KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card offering uncapped 25,000 miles sign-up bonus

Expired

From now till 30 April, get 25,000 bonus miles with a new KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card and a minimum spend of S$2,000. No caps apply!

UOB is notorious for “first X” sign-up bonuses (among other shenanigans), but every once in a blue moon we get an uncapped offer, which is the strongest indication that today’s the day to buy 4D.

From now till 30 April 2023, new KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card applicants will receive a 25,000 miles sign-up bonus (plus up to 6,000 base miles) when they spend at least S$2,000 in the first 60 days.

How refreshing that so long as you meet the eligibility criteria, apply during the promotion period and meet the minimum spend, the bonus miles are yours. What a novel idea, eh?

KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card 25,000 miles sign-up bonus

Apply

From 1 February to 30 April 2023, new-to-UOB customers who sign up for a KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card can enjoy up to 25,000 bonus miles when they spend at least S$2,000 in the first 60 days of approval.

❓ New-to-UOB definition

New-to-UOB is defined as customers as those who:

  • do not currently hold a principal UOB credit card, and
  • have not cancelled one in the 6-month period before 1 February 2023

This is broken down into:

BonusMin. SpendCap
5,000 milesS$5 on first trxn.No cap
20,000 milesS$2,000 in 60 daysNo cap

5,000 miles will be awarded to cardholders who make their first spend of at least S$5.

20,000 miles will be awarded to applicants who spend at least S$2,000 within the first 60 days of approval.

❓ Existing UOB customer?
Existing UOB customers who apply for a KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card are eligible for the first spend 5,000 miles bonus. However, this is a once-per-lifetime offer; if you previously held this card, you cannot receive the bonus a second time even if you sign-up again.

The first year’s annual fee of S$194.40 is automatically waived, so assuming you have spend coming up, these bonus miles are essentially “free”.

Do note that UOB markets this offer as “up to 31,000 miles”. Where do the extra 6,000 miles come from? It assumes the entire S$2,000 minimum spend is clocked on 3 mpd categories, such as:

  • Singapore Airlines
  • Scoot
  • KrisShop
  • Kris+
  • “Accelerated Miles” categories such as dining, food delivery, online shopping & travel, transport (the minimum spend to unlock this was recently increased to S$800)

Assuming you spent the S$2,000 elsewhere (in Singapore dollars), you’d earn 2,400 base miles (@ 1.2 mpd), for a total of 27,400 miles.

When will the bonus be credited?

The 5,000 bonus miles for the first spend bonus will be credited in the following month after the first transaction is made.

The 20,000 bonus miles for the sign-up offer will be credited according to the following timeline.

Card approval month20,000 miles credited by
February 202330 June 2023
March 202331 June 2023
April 202331 August 2023

All miles will be credited directly to the linked KrisFlyer account, with no transfer fees applicable.

What counts as qualifying spend?

Approved cardholders will need to spend a minimum of S$2,000 in the first 60 days of approval. The full list of exclusions can be found in the T&Cs, but the key ones to note are:

  • Charitable donations
  • Education
  • Government transactions
  • GrabPay top-ups
  • Hospitals
  • ipaymy
  • Medical services

Cardholder Terms and Conditions

The KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card comes with a first year fee waiver. Cardholders earn 1.2 mpd on local and overseas spend, and 3 mpd on Singapore Airlines, Scoot, KrisShop and Kris+ transactions (collectively known as SIA Group transactions).

If they spend at least S$800 on SIA Group transactions in a membership year (excluding Kris+), they will earn 3 mpd on dining, food delivery, online shopping & travel, and transport.

Cardholders also receive instant KrisShopper Icon status (provided they’re not already KrisShopper members), which awards an extra 3 mpd on KrisShop purchases.

Conclusion

The latest KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card sign-up bonus offers up to 25,000 bonus miles to new cardholders. With a minimum spend of S$2,000, this represents one of the better sign-up deals out there- especially since there’s no cap to worry about!

If you can live with UOB’s games, I do think this is a card worth having because of its uncapped 3 mpd on dining, food delivery, online shopping and travel, and transport. It’s true you could earn 4 mpd on most of these categories, but there’s usually a cap involved. If you’re making a big-ticket purchase, then this could very well be the best card to use (provided you don’t mind waiting up to 14 months for the bonus miles to be credited!).

Moreover, cardholders get periodic discounts on KrisFlyer Experiences redemptions (like the recent F1 SkySuite packages), which could help save miles if you’re into that sort of thing.

Hi Aaron, I am applying for this card by placing a colleteral of $10k, but i was told by the staff at UOB that secured credit cards will not be eligible for the 25k sign-up bonus! I thought all credit cards, whether secured or unsecured are bound by the same terms & conditions?

B&B

see clause 2.1: If you satisfy all of the conditions set out in Clause 1.4 above, you shall be eligible to receive 20,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles (the “Gift”).

Hi Aaron, do cardup transactions count towards sign-up bonus and base miles?

Louie

I applied this card on 01MAR23 and until now no news. On 22MAR23, I received a SMS saying due to overwhelming responses, the processing time of my application will be delayed. I always paid off all my other credit card (DBS/HSBC/OCBC), and I don’t think I have any credit issued. Does anyone encounter this delay like me?
