Kris+ Gastronomy Series 2023: Earn up to 18 mpd on dining

For the past couple of years, Kris+ has been running an annual promotion called the Kris+ Gastronomy Series, which offer upsized miles at selected restaurants across Singapore.

The Gastronomy Series is back again from 5 May to 30 June 2023, with 14 restaurants participating this year and a flat earn rate of 12 mpd. For context, this isn’t nearly as good as 2022’s edition, which featured 20 restaurants and a flat earn rate of 15 mpd.

However, what’s different this year is that you can stack a further 6 mpd from your credit card (thanks to the UOB Lady’s Card enhancement), compared to a maximum of 4 mpd in previous years. 

This means an overall earn rate of 18 mpd- very tasty indeed!

Kris+ Gastronomy Series 2023

As part of the Kris+ Gastronomy Series 2023, Kris+ is offering the following promotions.

Earn 12 mpd at all participating restaurants

From 5 May to 30 June 2023, the following restaurants will offer an upsized earn rate of 12 mpd for payments via Kris+.

Remember, the offer only starts from 5 May 2023, so regular earn rates will be reflected in the meantime.

There’s no cap on the miles you can earn from Kris+, and all miles earned can be transferred to KrisFlyer at a 1:1 ratio with no transfer fees.

Here’s the standard PSA: whenever you earn any miles through the Kris+ app, be sure to transfer them to your KrisFlyer account immediately. There’ll be a big blue “transfer to KrisFlyer” button that pops up after payment; you can’t miss it.

If you:

• wait more than seven days, or
• spend any of the miles earned from a given transaction via the Kris+ app

your balance will be stuck in Kris+ where it can only be spent at a paltry rate of 150 miles = S$1, and expires after 6 months. 

Special menus

Kris+ has curated special set menus at participating Gastronomy Series restaurants (yet to be released), and if this year is anything like last year, we’ll see vouchers for specific flash deals that can be purchased with cash or KrisPay miles. 

Special menus and flash deals are eligible to earn 12 mpd, but remember, you can still earn 12 mpd from ordering off the a la carte menu as per normal.

What card should I use to pay?

In addition to the 12 mpd from Kris+, you can earn up to an additional 6 mpd by paying with the right credit card.

As a reminder, all payments on Kris+ must be made via Apple Pay or Google Pay, and retain the same MCC as the underlying merchant. In other words, you should use the same card you normally use for online dining.

Stack with Makan+ for 100 extra miles

Kris+ has its own restaurant reservation portal called Makan+, which offers 100 KrisPay miles per completed reservation.

10 of the 14 Gastronomy Series restaurants are available via Makan+, so that’s an easy 100 more miles at:

Miles earned through Makan+ will be be credited to Kris+ on the 15th day of the month following the reservation (for example, a booking made for 26 September will receive miles by 15 October). These can be converted into KrisFlyer miles at a 1:1 ratio, within seven days of crediting.

Reservations can be made for yourself or anyone you please. However, Makan+ does not support the editing of reservations; if you need to change your date or time, the only option is to cancel the entire reservation and make a new one.

Conclusion

Kris+ has announced this year’s Gastronomy Series line-up, with a flat earn rate of 12 mpd at all 14 participating restaurants, plus up to 6 mpd more from your credit card. Kris+ members will also be able to choose from specially-priced set menus, and enjoy exclusive flash deals via the app. 

As always, be sure to transfer your KrisPay miles immediately into KrisFlyer upon earning, otherwise they’ll be stuck inside Kris+ after seven days, with a six-month expiry and dismal value

Even if none of the Gastronomy Series restaurants tickle your fancy, you can still earn up to 9 mpd at more than 400 Kris+ partners across Singapore. It’s reason enough to download the app and start using it, if you haven’t already.
