I’ve confirmed with the GHA DISCOVERY PR team that this offer can be stacked with the 3X D$ promotion, so stays at the aforementioned Pan Pacific and PARKROYAL hotels would receive 4X D$ in total!

Hold up: if the individual offers are 2X and 3X, shouldn’t the total be 5X?

Nope. You need to remember that the 2X and 3X figures already include the base 1X, which is not duplicated. Therefore the bonus component here is 1X (global promo) and 2X (Pan Pacific/PARKROYAL promo) respectively, for a total of 4X.

To utilise the AMEX Offer, your payment must be done in-person at the front desk. 

Now, in my experience (and the experience of others), GHA does not charge credit cards before arrival, even for non-refundable rates. Therefore, you could book a non-refundable stay and pay at the front desk during check-in, thereby meeting the criteria for the AMEX Offer.

However, I cannot promise that this will always be the case. If in doubt, email or call the hotel to clarify.

How do D$ work?

D$1= US$1 at GHA properties worldwide. 

D$ can be earned or redeemed on the following expenses:

Only stays booked through the GHA website or official hotel websites/channels will be eligible to earn D$. 

A minimum of D$10 must be spent in a single transaction. It’s currently only possible to use D$ during a stay, at the front desk of a hotel. You cannot redeem D$ online, nor can you spend them on F&B or spa treatments when not an in-house guest. GHA says they are working to add such functionality, but there is no timeline yet as to when it’ll be available.

It is possible to use D$ on prepaid stays however, insofar as the hotel doesn’t actually charge your card at the time of booking (you’d be surprised, many “prepaid stays” aren’t actually charged until check-in). My advice would be to contact the hotel beforehand, let them know you want to book a prepaid rate with D$, and ask them how to proceed.

What cards should you use for hotel bookings?

Here’s the cards you can use for GHA DISCOVERY hotel bookings. Do note that certain cards will only offer their bonus rates if the booking is in foreign currency (i.e. not the Pan Pacific/PARKROYAL hotels in Singapore!).

Since the Citi Rewards Card doesn’t award 4 mpd for hotel transactions, pairing it with the Amaze isn’t an option. You can, however, pair the UOB Lady’s Card (with travel selected as your 10X category) with Amaze to earn 6 mpd with minimal FCY fees. 

Conclusion

Let’s recap the stack. A GHA DISCOVERY member who stays by 30 September 2023 would have the opportunity to enjoy the following:

• Regular D$ rebates of 4-7%
• Extra D$ rebates of 4-7% (2X global promo)
• Extra D$ rebates of 8-14% (3X Pan Pacific/PARKROYAL promo)
• Bonus D$15 for app booking
• S$100 statement credit (AMEX)

That’s a total rebate of 28% for Titanium members, plus D$15 and a S$100 statement credit!

I don’t know about you, but this gets me very excited. It’s just a shame the newly-opened Pan Pacific Orchard doesn’t qualify for the AMEX statement credit, so if I want to review that I’m “only” going to be able to stack three promos.
