GHA DISCOVERY is now running a new offer for stays at GHA hotels worldwide, which gives double elite nights on stays till 30 November 2023.

While I doubt very much that anyone earns DISCOVERY elite status via nights (why would you, when it only takes three brands for Titanium?), it’s still worth noting because of the stacking potential with other ongoing promotions.

GHA DISCOVERY members can now earn double elite nights when they book stays at any GHA property worldwide.

A few points to note:

• Registration is required, and must be done by 31 October 2023
• Stays must be booked and completed from 1 October to 30 November 2023
• “Completion” refers to check-out; if your check-out date is after 30 November 2023, you will not qualify
• No minimum spend or minimum stay length required
• No cap on the maximum times this offer can be used

While I’m certainly not going to complain about a double elite night promotion, I do suspect that most people gunning for Platinum and Titanium status would find it much, much easier to just stay at two or three different brands instead.

It doesn’t hurt to register, but this promotion might not be all that useful, in and of itself.

How do Discovery $ work?

D$1 can be redeemed for US$1 at GHA properties worldwide. 

D$ can be earned or redeemed on the following expenses:

Only stays booked through the GHA website or official hotel websites/channels will be eligible to earn D$. 

A minimum of D$10 must be spent in a single transaction. It’s currently only possible to use D$ during a stay, at the front desk of a hotel. You cannot redeem D$ online, nor can you spend them on F&B or spa treatments when not an in-house guest. GHA says they are working to add such functionality, but there is no timeline yet as to when it’ll be available.

It is possible to use D$ on prepaid stays however, insofar as the hotel doesn’t actually charge your card at the time of booking (you’d be surprised, many “prepaid stays” aren’t actually charged until check-in). My advice would be to contact the hotel beforehand, let them know you want to book a prepaid rate with D$, and ask them how to proceed.

What cards should you use for hotel bookings?

Here’s the cards you can use for GHA DISCOVERY hotel bookings. Do note that certain cards will only offer their bonus rates if the booking is in foreign currency.

Since the Citi Rewards Card doesn’t award 4 mpd for hotel transactions, pairing it with the Amaze isn’t an option. You can, however, pair the UOB Lady’s Card (with travel selected as your 10X category) with Amaze to earn 6 mpd with minimal FCY fees.

Conclusion

GHA DISCOVERY is offering double elite nights at all GHA hotels until 30 November 2023, and even if you don’t plan to qualify/requalify for status via stays, you can still stack this with: 

• Extra D$ rebates of 8-14% (3X Pan Pacific/PARKROYAL promo- if staying in Singapore)
• Bonus D$15 for app booking
