Extended: Citi PremierMiles 30,000 miles sign-up bonus

From now till 31 July 2024, get 30,000 bonus miles with S$800 spend on a new Citi PremierMiles Card as a new-to-bank customer.

Back in August 2022, Citibank launched a 30,000 miles sign-up bonus for the Citi PremierMiles Card. This offer was previously due to lapse on 30 April 2024, but has now been extended till 31 July 2024.

New-to-bank customers can choose between an offer of 8,000 or 30,000 bonus miles with S$800 spend, depending on whether they wish to pay the first year’s S$196.20 annual fee.

This S$800 spend is attractively low, and you can even meet it through Citi PayAll transactions, provided the admin fee is paid.

Citi PremierMiles 30,000 miles sign-up offer

New-to-bank Definition
New-to-bank customers are defined as those who do not currently hold a principal Citi card, and have not in the 12 month period before application. Debit cards, supplementary cards and corporate cards do not count.

From 1 May 2024 to 31 July 2024, new-to-bank customers can choose from two different sign-up offers at the point of application.

Option 1: Spend S$800, get 30,960 miles

New-to-bank customers who pay the S$196.20 annual fee and spend S$800 within 2 months of approval will receive a total of 30,960 miles. This is broken down into:

  • 960 miles for spending S$800 @ 1.2 mpd
  • 10,000 miles for paying the S$196.20 annual fee
  • 20,000 miles for meeting the spending requirement

The 10,000 bonus miles will be credited once the annual fee is paid, while the 20,000 bonus miles will be credited within 3 months after the qualifying spend has been met.

The effective cost per mile here is 0.65 cents each (S$196.20 annual fee/30,000 bonus miles).

Terms & Conditions

The T&Cs for the 30,000 miles sign-up offer can be found here.

Option 2: Spend S$800, get 8,960 miles plus fee waiver

New-to-bank customers who prefer a first year fee waiver can still get a smaller sign-up bonus.

By spending S$800 within 2 months of approval, they’ll earn a total of 8,960 miles. This is broken down into:

  • 960 miles from spending S$800 @ 1.2 mpd
  • 8,000 miles for meeting the spending requirement

The 8,000 bonus miles will be credited within 3 months after the qualifying spend has been met.

Terms & Conditions

The T&Cs for the 8,000 miles sign-up offer can be found here.

What counts as qualifying spend?

Successful applicants must spend S$800 within the first 2 months after approval, otherwise known as the qualifying period.

The qualifying period runs from the approval date and two full calendar months following that. For example, those approved on 15 August 2023 will have until 31 October 2023 to meet the minimum spend.

In other words, you actually have 2-3 months to hit the minimum spend, and should apply as early in the month as possible to maximise your time.

Qualifying spend excludes the following:

❌ Qualifying Spend Exclusions
(i) any Equal Payment Plan (EPP) purchases,
(ii) refunded/disputed/unauthorised/fraudulent retail purchases,
(iii) Quick Cash and other instalment loans,
(iv) Citi PayLite/Citi Flexibill/cash advance/quasi-cash transactions/balance transfers/annual card membership fees/interest/goods and services taxes,
(v) bill payments made using the Eligible Card as a source of funds,
(vi) late payment fees and
(vii) any other form of service/ miscellaneous fees
(vii) Citi PayAll transactions where the customer is not charged the Citi PayAll service fee

For avoidance of doubt, Citi PayAll transactions will count towards qualifying spend, but only if the admin fee is paid. Prior to 2 May 2023, even no-fee payments would count as qualifying spend!

Citi PayAll currently supports the following payments:

💰 Citi PayAll: Supported Payments
  • Education Fees
  • Taxes
  • Rent
  • Insurance Premiums
  • Renovation Fees
  • Property Agent Fees
  • Wedding Expenses
  • Condo Management Fees
  • Child Care Services
  • Domestic Helper Service Fees
  • Donation or Charity Payment
  • Electricity Bills
  • Event Management Fees
  • Membership Fees
  • Maintenance Fees
  • Medical Services
  • Payment for Retail Goods and Services
  • Parking
  • Professional Services Fees
  • Storage
  • Travel Expenses
  • Transport Fees
  • Utilities

Don’t forget that Citi is currently offering 2 mpd on all Citi PayAll tax payments and 1.6 mpd on Citi PayAll non-tax payments, with a minimum spend of S$5,000 on non-tax transactions. This could be a good opportunity to meet the minimum spend for the welcome offer, though obviously you’ll be overshooting the S$800 by quite a bit.

For the full details, refer to the article below.

Citi PayAll offer: 2 mpd on tax payments, 1.6 mpd on non-tax payments

What can you do with Citi Miles?

Citi Miles do not expire, and Citi PremierMiles cardholders get access to 10 different frequent flyer programs and one hotel partner.

Points can be transferred to miles in blocks of 10,000 Citi Miles (10,000 miles). There are some great sweet spots with programmes like British Airways Executive Club, Turkish Miles&Smiles, and Qatar Privilege Club.

Partner Transfer Ratio
(Citi Miles: Partner)

A S$27 conversion fee applies for every transfer, and do note that Thank You points earned on the Citi Prestige/Citi Rewards cards do not pool with Citi Miles, so you’ll have to redeem them separately.

SingSaver alternative

If this offer isn’t to your liking, an alternative option is available for applications made via SingSaver (you cannot stack the Citi and SingSaver offers; pick one or the other!).

All applications will automatically receive a first year fee waiver

New-to-bank customers who apply via SingSaver and spend at least S$500 within 30 days of approval can pick one of the following gifts:

  • Apple iPad 10th Gen
  • Dyson Supersonic
  • S$400 eCapitaVoucher
  • S$300 cash via PayNow

Be sure to follow the steps below:

  1. Apply through this link
  2. You will be directed to a SingSaver landing page. Enter your email address and click “confirm”
  3. Complete your application and take a screenshot of the Application Reference Number (for Citibank, it’s 12 alphanumeric characters)
  4. Fill in the SingSaver rewards form that will be sent to your email. It’s vital you fill in the form– no form, no reward.

Do note that the SingSaver gifts regularly rotate, so always refer to the T&Cs for the latest options.

Review: Citi PremierMiles Card

Citibank has extended its impressive sign-up bonus on the Citi PremierMiles Card, with cardholders entitled to 30,000 bonus miles for just S$800 spend and paying the annual fee.

If annual fees are not for you, there’s always the option of a fee waiver with 8,000 bonus miles- but I think the fee paying option is the better choice here.

Despite its non-pooling points and average earn rates, I’d consider the Citi PremierMiles Card to be one of the better general spending cards on the market, thanks to its wide range of transfer partners and Citibank’s frequent miles purchase offers via Citi PayAll.

You’ll also enjoy a Priority Pass with two complimentary lounge visits, and getting a fee waiver in subsequent years has never been an issue in my experience.

Seems like lots of miles promos these days again! What is the bank’s cost of acquiring the miles? Just wondering what the margin (if there is) on these for the bank.

wild guess ~ 0.5 cts per mile when SQ sells it to the banks

If I have no Citi card in the past 12 months then can I qualify for this signup promo and the Citi Prestige signup promo at the same time?

I would naturally have to get the premier miles card first and maybe a few weeks later the Citi prestige card.

Seems very worth it for 1600+ 192+ 535 of spend!!

Prestige offer wasn’t extended

Hello MileLion, do you know when would Citi charges the S$194.40 annual fee? Gotten my card a week ago but did not see the charge yet

Eh end of the first month i believe? that’s usually the case for my cards

im debating between this and the citi rewards. rewards seem to be better for every day use tho, esp. to pay my income tax that is coming up.
