HeyMax sells vouchers for many popular merchants, including Amazon, Grab, Klook, Lazada, NTUC FairPrice and Sheng Siong. Buying vouchers is a great way to earn additional Max Miles on top of credit card miles, or to meet the minimum spend for a welcome offer (Trust Freedom Card’s 100,000 miles, anyone?).
HeyMax has launched a new feature called Miles Booster, which allows users to buy additional Max Miles when they purchase vouchers. However, the asking price is steep, and if you really need more Max Miles, there are cheaper ways of getting them.

HeyMax launches Miles Booster feature

When buying vouchers, HeyMax users now have the option of paying an extra 10% of the voucher price to earn a bonus 5 Max Miles per S$1 (MMpd).

For example, suppose I want to buy a S$100 IKEA voucher, which has a regular earn rate of 1 MMpd. At the time of payment, I can flip the Miles Booster toggle to pay an extra S$10 (10% of S$100) for 500 additional Max Miles (S$100 x 5 MMpd).

At first glance, this looks like buying Max Miles at 2 cents each (S$10/500 Max Miles).
However, that’s not quite the case, because the Miles Booster fee is eligible for credit card miles too — usually 4 mpd (see below). Once you factor that in, the cost per mile is reduced to 1.85 cents.
| Miles Booster OFF | Miles Booster ON | |
| Voucher | S$100 | S$100 |
| Miles Booster Cost | N/A | S$10 |
| Total Paid | S$100 | S$110 |
| Credit Card Miles @ 4 mpd | 400 miles | 440 miles |
| Regular Max Miles | 100 miles | 100 miles |
| Miles Booster | N/A | 500 miles |
| Total Max Miles | 100 miles | 600 miles |
| Total Credit Card + Max Miles | 500 miles | 1,040 miles |
| Extra Miles from Miles Booster | N/A | 540 miles |
| Miles Booster Cost | N/A | S$10 |
| Cost Per Mile | N/A | 1.85¢ |
Of course, there’s a bit of conflation going on, because 1 Max Mile is not the same as 1 credit card mile. I’m not keen to open that can of worms, but suffice to say, the actual cost per Max Mile will range from 1.85 to 2 cents, depending on how much you value a credit card mile compared to a Max Mile.
The 5 MMpd rate will only be available for a limited time, and will end once 10 million Max Miles have been awarded or 30 November 2026, whichever comes first.
After this, the Miles Booster cost will remain at 10%, but the reward will be cut to 3.33 MMpd. This increases the cost per Max Mile to 2.7 to 3 cents, again depending on how much you value your credit card miles.
Either way, I probably won’t be taking up the Miles Booster option, given that there are cheaper ways of acquiring Max Miles.

From 1 September to 30 November 2026, Chocolate Finance customers can convert their monthly returns into Max Miles at a promotional rate of 80 Max Miles per S$1.
For example, if your returns for October 2026 are S$100, you can convert up to S$100 into 8,000 Max Miles once November 2026 starts. This is basically buying Max Miles at 1.25 cents each.
The rate will revert to the regular 62.5 Max Miles per S$1 from 1 December 2026, or 1.6 cents each.

Unlike regular CardUp payments, you don’t pay with a credit card. Instead, you pay with PayNow — this means that more of your fee goes towards miles, rather than network fees.
Here are the key things to note:
- Payment must be scheduled by 31 December 2026
- A cap of 10,000 Max Miles applies for the promotional rates (across both Standard and Accelerated tiers)
- Codes can be used multiple times until the 10,000 Max Miles cap is reached

HeyMax First: 2.3 cents per Max Mile (refundable)

To be clear, HeyMax First isn’t about buying miles, but rather borrowing them. That said, it’s still a handy option if you find yourself short of Max Miles.
All HeyMax users enjoy a free HeyMax First Silver membership, which allows them to “borrow” up to 30,000 Max Miles for an access fee of 3 cents per mile, which will be refunded when the Max Miles are earned back.
| Tier | Miles Pool | Member Fee | Access Fee |
| Silver | 30K | Free | 3¢ per mile |
| Gold | 100K | S$299 | 2.7¢ per mile |
| Platinum | 300K | S$699 | 2.5¢ per mile |
| Reserve | 1M | S$1,999 | 2.3¢ per mile |
They can also upgrade to a higher tier to reduce the access fee to as low as 2.3 cents per mile — the membership fee is waived for the first year anyway.

What card should you use for HeyMax vouchers?
HeyMax voucher purchases code as MCC 5311 Department Stores.
I’m sure that was a carefully calibrated choice, because it also happens to be the most common bonus category across cards.

Conclusion
HeyMax’s new Miles Booster feature lets users buy additional Max Miles when purchasing vouchers. The effective cost per Max Mile is 1.85 cents, assuming you pay with a 4 mpd card and value credit card miles the same as Max Miles.
That’s not outrageous, but it’s not a bargain either, especially when Chocolate Finance’s Miles for Returns (1.25 cents) and CardUp’s PayNow promotion (1.46 cents) offer cheaper ways of buying Max Miles. What’s more, the value proposition will get weaker once the introductory rate ends, and the cost per Max Mile increases to 2.7 cents.
In my opinion, Miles Booster only makes sense if you’re just shy of the miles for a particular redemption and need them right away (remember, CardUp requires a bill to pay, and Chocolate Finance returns can only be converted once a month) — and don’t want to use HeyMax First, for whatever reason.
