HeyMax adds transfers to Malaysia Airlines Enrich, with 20% transfer bonus

Convert Max Miles to Enrich Points at a 1:1 ratio, with a 20% transfer bonus until 7 January 2027. 1,334 Max Miles for a Kuala Lumpur getaway, anyone?

HeyMax has added Malaysia Airlines Enrich as a new transfer partner, providing users with an additional oneworld redemption option after Asia Miles, JAL Mileage Bank and Qatar Privilege Club.

To mark the launch, an uncapped 20% transfer bonus is available for the next three months. Enrich isn’t exactly full of sweet spots, but there are some potentially lucrative redemptions such as Singapore to Kuala Lumpur in Economy, which costs just 1,334 Max Miles with the transfer bonus — and no fuel surcharges!

HeyMax adds transfers to Malaysia Airlines Enrich

HeyMax users can now transfer Max Miles to Malaysia Airlines Enrich Points at a 1:1 ratio, with an introductory 20% transfer bonus from 8 October 2026 to 7 January 2027.

Max Miles Enrich Points

  • A minimum conversion of 100 miles is required, after which the increment is just 1 mile
  • Conversions will take up to five business days to process
  • Base and bonus Enrich Points will be credited at the same time
  • No cap on the maximum bonus that can be enjoyed

It’s important to highlight that Enrich Points transferred from HeyMax are considered “bonus points” rather than “regular points”. Hence, they are only valid for one year, compared to the usual validity of three years.

What can you do with Malaysia Airlines Enrich Points?

Malaysia Airlines A330-900neo Business Class

Frequent devaluations, dynamic award pricing and high fuel surcharges mean that I don’t pay particularly close attention to Malaysia Airlines Enrich.

That said, there are still pockets of value to be found, particularly with its Enrich Saver fixed-price awards.

Malaysian miles and points site BolehMiles has compiled the above charts into a single, searchable chart.

There is also a distance-based award chart for oneworld and other partner awards, as well as Singapore Airlines.

Singapore Airlines awards

The key thing to understand is that Enrich uses segment-by-segment pricing, so a SIN-KUL-LHR award is the sum of a SIN-KUL and KUL-LHR award. But where it gets confusing is that the cost of a SIN-KUL award is not the same as a KUL-SIN award.

That’s a good thing, mind you, because you can redeem SIN-KUL flights for just 1,600 miles (I’ve been told that on some dates, you can even find awards at 1,200 miles).

Malaysia Airlines has also scrapped fuel surcharges on the SIN-KUL route, ever since the start of this month. Therefore, the only cash you pay on the redemption is the Singapore airport taxes of S$65.20, plus the annoying new Sustainable Aviation Fuel levy if your flight departs from 1 January 2027 — though this amounts to just S$1 for Economy Class tickets.

Now, Scoot offers a marginally cheaper alternative to Kuala Lumpur at 1,500 miles — discounted further to 1,275 miles during Spontaneous Escapes — also without fuel surcharges. However, Scoot award redemptions include nothing more than 10kg of cabin baggage. You have to pay extra for checked bags, and I’ve been quoted as much as S$50 per bag on the SIN—KUL route.

In contrast, Enrich redemptions on Malaysia Airlines include 20kg of check-in baggage and 7kg of cabin baggage.

I collected (OK, Matthew did) some additional data points for Enrich Saver awards, comparing the price of the journey if you started in Kuala Lumpur vs Singapore.

The results are confusing, to say the least.

Most of the time, the difference between starting from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur is what you’d expect — a small increment in terms of miles and fuel surcharges. For example, flying SIN-KUL-MLE costs 1,600 miles + S$11 more than flying KUL-MLE.

But there are situations where starting from Singapore can save money on fuel surcharges. For example, fuel surcharges on the KUL-NRT route are S$210, versus SIN-KUL-NRT at S$83. Fuel dump, anyone?

🇯🇵 Beware of Japan fuel surcharges
Malaysia Airlines uses a different formula to calculate fuel surcharges for Japan, which counterintuitively, makes it more expensive than flying to Europe!

I also noticed that if your plan is to fly Business Class, it’s almost always better to take a cheap repositioning flight to Kuala Lumpur. Starting your ticket from Singapore adds 22,000+ points to the final bill — which really isn’t worth it for a 45-minute flight.

Long story short, the only other destination I see that might be worth booking is Male. That said, I’m told that Enrich’s award pricing algorithm can throw up some surprises, so if you’ve spotted anything interesting, do share!

What else can you do with Max Miles?

Aside from Malaysia Airlines Enrich, Max Miles can be converted to more than 20 airline and hotel partners, at a 1:1 ratio for most frequent flyer programmes. There are no conversion fees, and Max Miles never expire.

Alternatively, you can also cash out Max Miles via FlyAnywhere at 1.8 cents per mile, simply by submitting any air ticket booked in the past 30 days.

  1. Book your air tickets whatever way you like: through the airline’s official website, an OTA, or even a traditional brick-and-mortar travel agency
  2. Submit a FlyAnywhere redemption request via the HeyMax app
  3. Get reimbursed for your flight in cash, via PayNow, at a rate of 1.8 cents per Max Mile

Both commercial and award flights are eligible — in the case of the latter, HeyMax will reimburse you for the cash component of the ticket, i.e. taxes and surcharges.

Conclusion

HeyMax has added Malaysia Airlines Enrich as a transfer partner, with a 20% transfer bonus in effect until 7 January 2027.

Enrich isn’t a particularly valuable award programme, but it is an excellent option for redeeming flights from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. An Economy Class award costs just 1,334 Max Miles (1,600 Enrich Points, after a 20% bonus), with no fuel surcharges and a 20kg check-in allowance. Economy Class to Male is another good option, though for Business Class awards, it usually makes sense to reposition to Kuala Lumpur first.

Just remember that Enrich Points transferred from HeyMax are only valid for a year, so speculative transfers are not a good idea.
