Krisflyer sales are rare, so it’s always good to jump on them when they do appear.
From now till 4 August, Silkair is offering an addition 35% off onlineย redemptions for selected destinations and travel before 31 Oct 2016.ย Online redemptions already receive a 15% discount, so this additional 35% gives you a total of 50% off list price.
This is valid for both round trip and saver awards originating from Singapore, and for business and economy class travel.
Here is the listing of eligible flights plus the number of miles needed (post discount), and the analysis below.

Analysis
There are some pretty sweet deals to be had here- I’d jump on Koh Samui simply because revenue tickets there are so expensive for most of the year. If you’re going to Koh Samui be sure to check out my coverage of the destination including the amazing Vana Belle and Conrad Koh Samuiย (and some ways to get a room there for less).
Bali might also be a good deal if you’re looking at the peak NDP travel period (I’ve not actually checked availability so can’t say if you can still find saver). Note that the promotion for Bali and Koh Samui is only for business class travel, however.
I don’t think Silkair’s business class product is anything to rave about, but it’ll at least give you access to the SilverKris lounge in Singapore instead of the horrible Krisflyer Gold one.
Phuket for 6,250 miles isn’t too shabby either, although you should definitely check if you’re able to get it for cheaper using Tigerair or a budget carrier. Remember, at no point in time should you settle for anything less than 2 cents a mile. ย I personally value my miles a bit more at 3-4 cents, because of my own redemption patterns, but 2 cents is the absolute minimum you should accept.
I fully expect a lot of bookings to be made between now and the end of the promotion, so you might want to get cracking if you intend to travel soon.
The T&C have a worrying clause that says
3. Any change is strictly not permitted for bookings made under this promotion. Cancellation is also not permitted for partially used tickets.
My interpretation of this is that you can cancel an unused ticket, get the miles back (with a USD30/15 penalty) and book again, but youย cannot change your dates without cancelling. It’s a bit silly but it is what it is.
Now, if only I could find a way to get back to the Conrad Koh Samui again…
