From 3-31 July 2020, Maybank credit card members can enjoy โGST-free shoppingโ, via a 7% cash rebate on their registered Maybank card.
This applies to selected transactions in physical retail stores, and stacks with existing Maybank card benefits.
How Maybankโs โGST-free shoppingโ works
Registration
Cardholders first need to register their Maybank credit card via the Maybank TREATS SG mobile app. This can be done by navigating to Privilegesโ> Couponโ> 7% Cash Rebate Promotion
Eligible Merchants
After that, theyโll need to spend a minimum of S$700 on selected retail categories in physical retail stores with the following MCCs:
- Apparel: 5137, 5139, 5611, 5621, 5631, 5641, 5651, 5661, 5681, 5691, 5697,
5698 - Department Stores: 5309, 5311
- Watches & Jewellery: 5094, 5944
- Specialty Retail: 4225, 5111, 5193, 5310, 5331, 5399, 5931, 5932, 5933, 5937, 5943, 5947, 5948, 5950, 5973, 5978, 5992, 5993, 5996, 5999, 7292, 9751.

Other conditions
Upon meeting the S$700 spending, cardholders will enjoy a 7% cash rebate provided that the minimum spend is charged in no more than 5 transactions.
The cash rebate will be awarded for the top 5 highest value transactions only, and is capped at S$70.

Conclusion
Unlike the โstay homeโ promotions that other banks have been offering over the past few months, this is a decidedly โget outโ campaign. Youโll need to spend in physical retail stores to be eligible, so I suppose itโs targeted at those with revenge spending on their minds.
