For those of you who want to skip the December rush and do a staycation in January instead, here’s an offer worth taking note of.ย
The Capitol Kempinski is now offering a Super Special Staycation package, where suites are going at 40% off their usual rates with a minimum two night stay. This lets you book an Executive Suite from as little as S$496 nett a night- a fantastic deal, given the package inclusions and the overall quality of the hotel (easily the best of all my staycations so far).

Stay by: 31 March 2021
Rates are fully refundable up to 7 days before check-in. Here’s the rates I found for weekdays and weekends from January to March 2021 (rates reflect a further 10% discount available to members of the free-to-join Discovery program):ย
ย | Weekday (Sun-Thu) | Weekend (Fri-Sat) |
Executive Suite | S$421++ (S$496 nett) |
S$432++ (S$508 nett) |
Stamford Suite | S$529++ (S$623 nett) |
S$540++ (S$636 nett) |
Bidwell Suite | S$1,782++ (S$2,097 nett) |
S$1,890++ (S$2,224 nett) |
Heritage Suite | S$3,780++ (S$4,449 nett) |
S$4,050++ (S$4,767 nett) |
Rates valid for min. 2 night stay |
Obviously the Bidwell and Heritage Suites are a bit…uneconomical, but the Stamford Suite looks like the sweet spot to me.ย
Stamford Suites guests enjoy 58 sqm of space with a separate lounge area and bedroom. An open-concept bathroom (which can be partitioned off if desired) boasts a sizable tub, rainfall shower (with one of the highest ceilings I’ve ever seen), and electronic bidet seat.ย
During the evenings, guests in Stamford suites and higher categories will enjoy cocktail hours at 15 Stamford with their choice of drinks and snacks (to GHA Black members: this benefit only applies to those who have booked suites; it will not apply if you were upgraded).
Kempinski’s saltwater swimming pool is reopening
For the longest time, the Capitol Kempinski’s saltwater pool has been undergoing refurbishments. Guests who wanted to swim wereย redirected to a penthouse at the neighboring Eden Residences, which isn’t so much a pool as it is an outdoor jacuzzi. It’s definitely not the kind of place you’d want to share with strangers.ย
The good news is that from 9 December 2020, Kempinski’s outdoor saltwater pool will be reopened. It’s not the largest of pools, but it certainly offers a much nicer environment than an unfurnished penthouse.ย
The gym, however, is still under renovation with no official reopening date set yet. In the meantime, guests can make use of a temporarily facility in a converted guestroom.ย
Conclusion
While you need to stay at least two nights, a breakfast-included rate of S$496 nett for a suite is very nice indeed- the S$100 F&B credit is just the icing on the cake. Even better, the rate is refundable up to 7 days before arrival, so you can always cancel and rebook if a better deal comes along.
Do note that this rate is only available via the Capitol Kempinski’s official website, so you will not be able to use your SingapoRediscovers vouchers to pay for it (all bookings using SRV must be done through official platforms like Klook or Trip.com).
(HT: Alan!)
Booked the Stamford Suite (paid, not upgraded) last month and wasn’t told about cocktail hours. I even asked the staff about their lounge and they just said “it’s closed”. Kempinski’s service can be hit and miss imho.
i’ve forwarded this comment to them- it shouldn’t be happening.
Does the Stamford Suite justify the $120/night price difference over the Executive Suite?
i’ve not stayed in an executive suite so i can’t speak to that particular experience. i suppose the main difference would be space + happy hour, depends how much you value that. you’ll still get the same great breakfast either way.
I just had a 3D 2N stay last week. I’d give it 85 out of 100, not totally flawless due to some inflexibility on voucher use and condition of the shower area etc but still a very, very fine stay nonetheless. Breakfast was truly excellent and delighted to see no Qs, plenty of privacy and space for families, friends and and lovers respectively. Caveat is that this was during weekday so the weekend staycation crowd is likely to fill up the place significantly.
Might consider the Exec Suite offer…don’t recall this being available for bookings previously.
