shopFarEast is the loyalty program of Far East Malls, which operates just under 20 malls and retail concepts across Singapore.
What’s interesting is that in addition to the usual shopping vouchers and free parking, shopFarEast allows you to redeem points for staycations at various Far East Hospitality properties, including luxury options like The Clan and Barracks Hotel
Far East is also giving away a free S$5 e-voucher to new members- see below for more details
How does shopFarEast work?
shopFarEast members earn 1 point per S$1 spent at Far East Malls (1 point per S$3 at supermarkets). A minimum spend of S$10 per receipt is required to accrue points.

Points are valid until 30 June the following calendar year after they were earned. For example, the points you earn on 9 May 2021 will expire on 30 June 2022. This means your points have a 6-18 month validity, depending on when they were earned.
If you’re not already a shopFarEast member, you can earn an easy S$5 just by signing up. Download the app and enter the code SFE2021 in the “have a promo code?” field. Don’t forget to enter the promo code during the sign-up process! Once you’ve signed up, there’s no way to go back and add it.
The S$5 e-voucher will be credited instantly to your e-wallet, and is valid for 1 month from the date of issuance.
💰 Free S$5 Lendlease Plus voucher |
Since we’re talking free vouchers, it’s also worth mentioning a similar offer for Lendlease, the operators of 313@somerset, Jem, Parkway Parade and PLQ. 1. Download the Lendlease Plus app Free e-vouchers are valid for 1 year from date of issuance. Limited to first 5,000 sign-ups or 30 June 2021, whichever comes first. |
Redeem staycations with shopFarEast
Here’s the range of rewards that shopFarEast members can redeem.
Reward | Cost |
2 hours free parking | 350 pts |
S$5 Far East Malls e-voucher | 500 pts |
S$10 Far East Malls e-voucher | 900 pts |
S$50 Far East Malls e-voucher | 4,200 pts |
1N stay at Orchard Rendezvous Hotel | 4,500 pts |
1N stay at Oasia Hotel Downtown | 4,500 pts |
1N weekend stay at Clan Hotel | 6,500 pts |
1N stay at Barracks Hotel Sentosa | 8,500 pts |
You get an average rebate of about 1% when you redeem shopFarEast dollars (SFE$) for mall e-vouchers. It’s definitely not life-changing, but for perspective, CapitaStars and FrasersExperience offer an average rebate of just 0.5%.
But Far East has quite the hospitality arm, operating the Oasia, Rendezvous, and Village Hotel brands, the newly-opened Clan Hotel, as well as the Outpost and Barracks Hotels on Sentosa. SFE$ can be redeemed for staycations at:
- Orchard Rendezvous Hotel
- Oasia Hotel Downtown
- Clan Hotel
- Barracks Hotel Sentosa
Once you’ve accrued the required number of points, redeem the staycation via the shopFarEast app and visit the concierge counter at Orchard Central to collect a hotel redemption letter.
The redemption letter must be collected within 30 days, after which you have three months to use it. These stays are room-only, and don’t include breakfast (except at The Barracks Hotel, where it comes standard with all rooms).
To give you an idea of value, a weekday stay at The Barracks Hotel would start from S$895++ (S$1,053 nett), so you’d be getting a value of 12 cents per SFE$- much better than shopping vouchers.
Similarly, a weekend rate at the Clan Hotel starts from S$393++ (S$463 nett), which is 7 cents per SFE$. It’s clear that there will be better and worse deals, and you’ll certainly want to consider staycation packages as well, which come with additional inclusions like breakfast or F&B credit.
Conclusion
It’d take quite a bit of spending to redeem a staycation, but if you’re planning to buy a big-ticket item at a Far East mall, this is simply a way of double dipping on your credit card rewards.
Take a minute to sign-up, get your free S$5 e-voucher and don’t forget to scan your receipts.
If the redemption rates in your table are correct, then the redemption value is 10x your cents per SFE
yes you’re right- look who hasn’t woken up.
please feel free to delete the comment in case it confuses the readers since it’s already corrected. Thanks!
Hahaha it’s fine. Thanks for pointing it out! It means this is really much better than vouchers, assuming you can hit the critical mass
SFE: The S$5 e-voucher will be credited instantly to your e-wallet, and is valid for 1 year from the date of issuance. -> The e-voucher shows valid till end of Jun 21.
