Maybank has launched a new promotion for the Maybank Visa Infinite Card, which offers cardholders an uncapped 3.2 mpd on FCY spend and air tickets, all the way till 31 August 2024.
This is an excellent deal, and is largely similar to the already-running offer for the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature, but with a few key differences:
Maybank Visa Infinite | Maybank Horizon Visa Signature | |
FCY Spend | 3.2 mpd (uncapped) |
3.2 mpd (uncapped) |
Air Tickets | 3.2 mpd (uncapped) |
3.2 mpd (S$10K per c. month) |
Min. Spend | N/A | S$800 per c. month |
Validity | 1 Jun to 31 Aug 24 | 1 May to 30 Jun 24 |
It’s certainly a much-needed win for the beleaguered card, which last year saw a tightening of its airport limo transfer benefit, as well as a cut in Priority Pass lounge visits from unlimited to just four.
Maybank offering 3.2 mpd for FCY spend and air tickets
From 1 June to 31 August 2024, Maybank Visa Infinite Cardholders will earn:
- 3.2 mpd on FCY spend (no cap)
- 3.2 mpd on air tickets (no cap)
This offer is available to both existing cardholders, and cardholders who sign up subsequently to the start of the promotion. No registration is required.
Both the regular Maybank Visa Infinite and the Diamante Visa Infinite are eligible for this offer.
How are FCY spend and air tickets defined?
FCY spend
FCY spend is defined as card retail transactions posted in foreign currencies, regardless of online or in-person.
For avoidance of doubt, this includes charitable donations, education, insurance, private hospitals and utilities, so long as it’s charged in FCY!
Air tickets
Air ticket spend is classified as transactions posted in Singapore dollars (if you have air tickets in FCY, they fall under the previous section) under MCCs 3000-3350 and 4511.
This includes Singapore Airlines, Scoot, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qantas, Qatar Airways and pretty much every major airline out there.
As a reminder, if you want check the MCC of a particular airline transaction before spending, here’s three ways of doing so:

Its closest competitor is the StanChart Visa Infinite with 3 mpd on FCY spend, but this:
- Has a higher FCY fee of 3.5% (versus 3.25% for Maybank)
- Requires a higher minimum spend of S$2,000 per statement month (versus none for the Maybank Visa Infinite)
- Has a non-waivable annual fee of S$594 (compared to the first year free for the Maybank Visa Infinite)
That said, we need to keep in mind that there are a lot of ways to earn 4 mpd on FCY spend, albeit with a cap. Top-of-mind options include the UOB Visa Signature Card, Citi Rewards Card, and UOB Lady’s Cards.
Refer to the article below for a rundown of the options.
Therefore, you should ensure you’ve maxed out those other cards first, before using the Maybank Visa Infinite to soak up what’s leftover.

The Maybank Visa Infinite has a minimum income requirement of S$150,000 and an annual fee of S$600, though it does waive the first year’s fee.
Cardholders normally earn 1.2 mpd on local spend and 2 mpd on FCY spend, with four complimentary Priority Pass visits a year and a free airport limo ride with a minimum spend of S$3,000 in the previous month.
Points earned on the Maybank Visa Infinite do not expire, and because Maybank points pool, this benefit extends to points earned on all other Maybank cards. Moreover, cardholders also enjoy free conversions for all points transfers.
Conclusion
Maybank Visa Infinite Cardholders can look forward to an uncapped 3.2 mpd on FCY spending and air ticket purchases for June, July and August 2024, with no minimum spend necessary.
While there are other cards which could earn 4 mpd, the key benefit here is that the 3.2 mpd is uncapped. For those who spend big overseas, or on air tickets, this is going to come in very handy indeed.
If it’s permanent, they’ll get my business for sure.
