Get S$100 off your flight bookings when you fly with KLM

Get S$100 off your flight with KLM/Air France when you book your flights by 10 January 2019.

KLM is giving everyone an early Christmas present. When you book your flights directly with KLM between now and 10 January 2019, enter <KLXMAS2018> at check out and receive S$100 off your flight booking. The travel period for tickets booked during this promotion must be between now until 30 November 2019.

Receive S$100 off your airfare, with an interesting twist

In this promotion, everyone who books their flights directly with KLM and enters the promo code <KLXMAS2018> at check-out will receive S$100 off the total fare of their booking. If you are making a booking for multiple passengers, it’s best to break up your booking to get more savings since the discount is applied on the total fare and not per passenger. You can use this code up to three times per person but I’m not sure how exactly this will be enforced.

To receive the discount, simply select your desired flights and enter the code at the payment page. Now comes the weird part.

As per the terms and conditions of the promotion, KLM claims a minimum spend of S$500 is required. However, no matter how hard I tried, I simply could not get the promotional code to work for flights that will cost you around S$800 (e.g Berlin, Oslo, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Warsaw).

Using the example of flights to Warsaw, if your flights cost around S$800, the discount will not be applied.

However, from the hours I’ve been poking around on the KLM website, it seems that the promo code will only be triggered if the total cost of your flight is above S$900. (YMMV)

It isn’t as if KLM isn’t allowing the discount to be applied to its lowest available fares as well. It is advertising fares to London for as low as S$1,144 and I was successfully able to apply KLXMAS2018 towards that itinerary:

Just be aware that all bookings made with a credit card will incur a 1.8% administrative charge on the original fare before discount, which seems to be capped at S$25 per passenger. Paying with a debit card will not incur the fee, which makes the KrisFlyer UOB debit card slightly tempting, or not.

KLM flies their Boeing 777-300ER between Singapore and Amsterdam Schiphol with Economy Class laid out in a 3-4-3 configuration. Between Amsterdam and their European destinations, they fly primarily Boeing 737s and the Embraer E175s and E190s.

Concluding Thoughts

This is a fantastic deal in my opinion and especially more so if you are making an upcoming flight booking for a large travel party as the savings will add up. Remember to credit these flights to the Flying Blue program to earn some miles on your flown flights.
