Sign up bonus FAQs

Does spending by supplementary cardholders count?

Yes, whatever your supplementary cardholder spends will be pooled with the principal cardholder in computing total qualifying spend.

For example, if I hold a principal OCBC 90N Card and spend $3K within 3 months, and my wife holds a supplementary OCBC 90N Card and spends $2K within 3 months, it’s taken as if I’ve spent $5K within 3 months, qualifying me for the bonus.

Does spending on (insert merchant here) count towards the sign up bonus?

Your best bet is to read the T&C (linked above) to figure out what is and is not counted. If in doubt, contact customer service and try to get their response in writing.

With the exception of the SCB X Card, spending on CardUp/RentHero will count towards sign up bonus spending. Citi PayAll spending will also count, but SCB has explicitly excluded SC EasyBill spending.

How often can I receive a sign up bonus?

This depends on your bank’s definition of “new-to-bank”. In general, a new-to-bank customer is one who does not currently hold any of the bank’s credit cards (as a principal cardholder), and has not done so in the past 12 months.

That’s why it’s advisable to cancel any cards you’re not actively using, so you can start the countdown on “resetting” your new-to-bank status.

Conclusion

If you’ve got big ticket spending coming up, you’ll definitely want to see which of these sign up bonuses can fit into your plans.

Once you’ve maxed out your sign up bonuses, it then becomes a question of using the right card in the right situation, and this Starter Pack Guide and Card Guide may come in useful.

cardmiles

hi aaron,
i hold 3 different bank’s credit card. Does KrisFlyer allow us to pool all the miles points together from my different credit cards into my krisflyer account?

thanks in advance..

Thatโ€™s an interesting sign-up bonus for the AMEX Rewards Card. It was my understanding that till now the 13.3k mikes offer against a $1.5k spend was a โ€˜once in a lifetimeโ€™ offer, akin to their Krisflyer co-branded cards where one gets 5k miles upon first spend.
