From 14-16 August 2020, HSBC cardholders who book staycations on Agoda will receive a 20% discount (upsized from the usual 12%).
HSBC Revolution cardholders will also be able to earn 4 mpd on their bookings, as part of the card’s new features that kicked in on 1 August. I’ve just published a full review on the new-and-improved HSBC Revolution, which you can read here.
HSBC’s 20% discount on Singapore staycations
HSBC cardholders currently receive 12% off staycations booked with Agoda, a benefit that runs through the end of 2020.
However, from 14-16 August 2020, the discount will be increased to 20%. Eligible stay dates remain the same (i.e until 31 December 2020), and you’ll need to make bookings via this link and pay with a HSBC credit card.
This offer only applies to “promotion eligible” hotels, for rates that are fully paid for online. “Promotion eligible” hotels can be identified by a tag on their listing.
Sidetrack: Have I mentioned how much I hate Agoda’s UI? There’s way too much going on, with so many labels, tags, banners and what not.
Anyway, once you’ve chosen a “promotion eligible” hotel, be sure to book a “promotion eligible” rate too. Remember: any rate which you pay at the hotel is not eligible; you’ll need to pay online via Agoda.
This represents a good opportunity for new HSBC Revolution cardholders to accumulate spending towards their sign-up bonus. As a reminder, cardholders who spend at least S$800 by the end of the month following approval will receive either S$150 cashback, or a Samsonite Prestige 69cm Spinner bag.
Comparison shop with other staycation deals
When browsing the rates on Agoda, be sure to compare them with other staycation packages available on the hotel’s official website. It’s important to not just look at final cost; you also need to compare inclusions. Hotel staycation packages may include extras like late check-out or additional F&B credits, which Agoda rates may not have.

Fullerton Hotel Staycation at S$254++
HSBC cardholders can normally book a staycation package at The Fullerton Hotel for S$271++, which includes:
- 1 night stay in Premier Courtyard Room
- Daily breakfast for 2
- S$80 of dining credits
From 14-16 August 2020, the price will be further reduced to S$254++ (S$299 nett), limited to the first 50 nights booked.
The rate is only applicable for stays on Friday/Saturday/Sunday, and stays must be completed by 30 September 2020. To make a booking, email the Fullerton Hotel reservations team.
My understanding is this represents a pretty compelling deal, possibly better than the current Luxury of Time package. It’s hard to compare directly, as Luxury of Time has an upgrade to a Heritage Room plus early check-in and late check-out, but assuming you don’t value those then S$299 nett is a good price.
Extra S$50 dining credits at PARKROYAL on Beach Road
HSBC cardholders currently enjoy 20% off the best available rate at the PARKROYAL on Beach Road, and members of the free-to-join Pan Pacific DISCOVERY program will get a further 10% off the rate.
The first 50 bookings made from 14-16 August 2020 will receive an additional S$50 of dining credits, valid for dine-in at Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant, Poolside Café and Bar, and In-room Dining at PARKROYAL on Beach Road.

Conclusion
While there’s no guarantee you’ll find a great deal even with 20% off, this HSBC promotion is one additional place to search before locking anything in.
So mark your calendars for 14-16 August, and if you want to book that Fullerton Hotel staycation package, draft your email now.

the question then is how much you value the higher category room + early check-in/late check-out.
and guess you could probably eat cheaper outside Fullerton hotel if you got the HSBC deal rather than force yourself to eat upscale to utilise the $150 voucher (and pay even spend more at that)
