HSBC WOW Weekend: Excellent staycation deals for Kempinski, Hilton and more

Heads up HSBC cardholders: Stay up late tonight for some great staycation deals with HSBC's WOW Weekend sale (19-21 March).

From 19-21 March 2021, HSBC is offering some excellent staycation deals as part of its WOW Weekend Sale. Most of these are available in limited quantities so you’ll need to stay up late on the night of the 18th to snag them, but looking at the deals on offer, I think it just might be worth a shot.

You’ll definitely want to use the HSBC Revolution Card for your bookings to earn 4 mpd, capped at the first S$1,000 per calendar month.

If you don’t have a HSBC Revolution yet, you can get S$300 cash (or a Dyson Cool AM07 Tower Fan) when you apply by 28 March 2021 and spend S$500 by the end of the month after approval.

The 51st booking onwards will pay S$288++ (S$339 nett) with the same benefits, except S$38 F&B credit instead.

Two booking links have been provided. If the one for the first 50 gives you an error message, it means the deal has already been exhausted and you’ll need to use the second link instead:

Hilton Singapore is offering two nights in their lead-in Deluxe Room category from S$165++ (S$194 nett). Even better, there’s no limitation on the number of bookings, so long as they’re made by 25 March 2021.

If you book by 21 March 2021, however, you get 3 p.m late check-out (subject to availability) and two slices of Hilton cheesecake. Eh, don’t feel too bad if you miss this one.

The terms and conditions state that no Hilton points can be earned on these stays, so they may also not be eligible for elite benefits and points promotions (such as the ongoing Points Unlimited, with 2,000 bonus points every stay). Booking links are as follows:

Both links will only go live from 0000 on 19 March 2021. All bookings are strictly non-refundable.

Fullerton Singapore is offering one night for S$255++ (S$300 nett) or two nights for S$510++ (S$600 nett) for the first 100 bookings from 19 March 2021 (I’m assuming both the one night and two night packages have their own 100 quotas). This includes S$100 or S$200 of F&B credit and breakfast, a very tidy deal indeed.

It’s a bit more marginal for the 101st booking onwards, as the rate goes up to S$297++ (S$350 nett) and S$594++ (S$699 nett) for 1/2 nights, while the F&B credit stays fixed at S$80 no matter the duration.

Reservations need to be made via email at tfs.reservations@fullertonhotels.com. Check with the hotel regarding changes and cancellations.

Book Period: 19-21 March 2021
Stay Period: 19 March to 31 May 2021

The first 50 bookings from 0000 on 19 March 2021 will enjoy a rate of S$356.52++ (S$420 nett) for weekdays and S$496.52++ (S$584 nett) for weekends at the Valley Wing.

This includes all the standard Valley Wing benefits, such as:

  • Complimentary all-day champagne (11 a.m to 10.30 p.m)
  • Breakfast at Summit Room
  • Afternoon tea
  • Evening canapés and cocktails

For perspective, we’ve seen the Valley Wing go for less during Traveloka’s sales. In February it was possible to book a room for S$346 nett, from which you could knock off a further S$100 with your SRV. Whether or not that sale will return is anyone’s guess, but the HSBC rates are still good in and of themselves.

Reservations need to be made via the Shangri-La’s official website, and can be done via this link. Bookings are non-refundable.

Royal Caribbean

Quantum of the Seas
Quantum of the Seas

If a floating staycation is more your sort of thing, HSBC cardholders can enjoy some discounts on Royal Caribbean cruises to nowhere.

Cardholders will enjoy the year-long 5% discount (on top of Royal Caribbean’s perpetual 50% off promotion) on Balcony or Deluxe staterooms (I’m not sure if the latter category even exists on Quantum of the Seas), plus a further S$50 off for the first 100 staterooms booked between 19-21 March 2021.

Reservations must be made via email at salessg@rcclapac.com. You will not be able to enjoy this offer via the official website, so take note. As far as I know, Royal Caribbean’s sales team processes card transactions offline, and if this is the case, you won’t earn 4 mpd with the HSBC Revolution (the bonus is for online transactions only).

For a full review of the Royal Caribbean experience, check out this series of posts:

Finally, do note that if you book via the HSBC promotion, you will not be able to choose a specific cabin as the reservations are for “guarantee” type rooms i.e they guarantee you’ll have a balcony, that’s all.

Conclusion

The Kempinski and Hilton offers are my pick of the lot, although Fullerton is great too if you’re in the first 100.

For deals bookable through the hotel’s website, you’ll need to standby on Thursday night. For those bookable through email, compose the mail beforehand and schedule it to auto-send at the stroke of midnight.

Well that was disappointing. Stayed up, fired up the links at midnight or just after – I wanted either Shang or Kempinski. Websites must have crashed. Gave up after thirty minutes. Congrats to anyone that actually made a booking.
