DBS yuu Card revises rewards exclusions from 1 May 2026

The DBS yuu Card will be adding some new rewards exclusions from 1 May 2026, but there's no need to panic.

DBS recently sent out a notification regarding some upcoming changes to rewards exclusions for the popular DBS yuu Card.

While announcements like this invariably spark a lot of fear and panic, the good news is that there’s little to be worried about. DBS is simply aligning the yuu Card’s terms and conditions with the rest of its rewards programme, and the card’s core value proposition remains unchanged.

DBS yuu Card revises rewards exclusions

From 1 May 2026, the DBS yuu Card will update its T&Cs to add some new rewards exclusions.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the old and new T&C documents. The only substantive changes come in section 9, where the following exclusions will be added.

MCC Description
5047 Medical, Dental, Ophthalmic and Hospital Equipment and Supplies
5199 Non-Durable Goods – Not Elsewhere Classified
5960 Direct Marketing – Insurance Services
5993 Cigar Stores and Stands
6050 Quasi Cash – Financial Institutions, Merchandise, Services
6513 Real Estate Agents and Managers – Rentals
6529 Quasi Cash – Remote Stored Value Load – Financial Institute
6530 Quasi Cash – Remote Stored Value Load – Merchant
6534 Quasi Cash – Money Transfer – Member Financial Institution
7349 Cleaning and Maintenance, Janitorial Services
7511 Quasi Cash – Truck Stop Transactions
8651 Political Organisations
8699 Membership Organisations – Not Elsewhere Classified
8999 Professional Services – Not Elsewhere Classified

In addition to this, transactions with the following descriptions will also be excluded from earning rewards.

  • AXS
  • SmoovPay

This is basically word for word the same update that DBS made to its generic rewards T&Cs back in December 2025, so it’s really a case of the DBS yuu Card playing catch up.

❓You can earn points on AXS?!

Since the cat is out of the bag, I suppose there’s no harm confirming that AXS payments did indeed earn points with the DBS yuu Card. The earn rate was a mere 1 yuu Point per S$1 (0.28 mpd), which was further reduced to 0.5 yuu Points per S$1 (0.14 mpd) from 1 October 2025, but some points on AXS is better than none at all…

Mind you, I haven’t tried this recently. It could be that this was already nerfed back in December 2025 when DBS made the updates to its broader rewards programme. You’re welcome to try your luck though!

And that’s it. Nothing else in the T&Cs has changed, so there’s no need to lose sleep over-analysing or reading into anything that isn’t there.

Seriously. I’ve seen people working themselves into a tizzy online, citing terms which already existed long before this update and claiming it signals the end of points for Singtel kiosk payments or DFI vouchers.

While it’s impossible to rule out such changes happening one day, there’s also nothing in this update alone that supports that conclusion. So take a chill pill, and make hay while you can.

The DBS yuu Card comes in two flavours: American Express, and Visa. The earn rates and benefits of the two are almost identical, but there are some key differences.

  • AMEX has a lower FCY fee of 3% versus 3.25% for Visa (not that you should be using either card for overseas spending, mind you)
  • AMEX occasionally gets to participate in AMEX Offers such as Shop Small
  • AMEX does not earn 18% rebates/10 mpd at Charge+
  • AMEX is not accepted at 7-Eleven

The DBS yuu Card will earn 10 mpd with the following merchants, subject to a minimum spend of S$800 per calendar month (which can be on any retail spend, not necessarily yuu merchants). Cardholders must also transact with at least four merchants in a month.

Conclusion

The DBS yuu Card will be making some changes to its T&Cs from 1 May 2026, which align its rewards exclusions with the rest of the DBS card family.

All the additional exclusions relate to merchants that you probably wouldn’t be using the yuu Card for in the first place (unless you were doing naughty things with AXS), so it’s basically business as usual.

The appendix seems to suggest bonus points will not be added for bill payments for Singtel?

Jayden

this had always been the case. Payment via singtel kiosk is a workaround

CS Tan

I see. Got it. Thanks!

Jay

Wait, does that mean if I pay my bills with the Yuu card this month via AXS, it would count towards the $800 minimum spend?
