Maybank Horizon Visa Signature offering 3.2 mpd on selected FCY spend

From 1 November 2026 to 31 January 2027, earn an uncapped 3.2 mpd on online and offline FCY spend in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea and Thailand.

The Maybank Horizon Visa Signature received a major overhaul in November 2023, which turned it into one of the best cards for foreign currency (FCY) spending.

Cardholders who spend at least S$800 in a month earn an uncapped 2.8 mpd on FCY spend. This makes it ideal for big-ticket overseas purchases that would blow through the bonus caps on higher-earning cards.

Maybank has periodically boosted the earn rate even further during peak travel periods, and has now launched a new promotion offering an uncapped 3.2 mpd for spending in selected currencies from November 2026 to January 2027.

This is basically a repeat of the promotion that ran from April to June 2026. While it’s not as generous as previous editions — where all FCY spending was bonused — it still covers a wide range of popular destinations including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.

The bonus applies to both in-person and online spending, and even covers commonly excluded categories like education, medical and insurance payments.

From 1 November 2026 to 31 January 2027, Maybank Horizon Visa Signature cardholders will earn an uncapped 3.2 mpd for in-person and online transactions made in the following currencies:

  • 🇨🇳 Chinese Renminbi (RMB)
  • 🇭🇰 Hong Kong Dollar (HKD)
  • 🇮🇩 Indonesian Rupiah (IDR)
  • 🇯🇵 Japanese Yen (JPY)
  • 🇲🇾 Malaysian Ringgit (MYR)
  • 🇹🇼 New Taiwan Dollar (TWD)
  • 🇰🇷 South Korean Won (KRW)
  • 🇹🇭 Thai Baht (THB)

Other FCY transactions will continue to earn an uncapped 2.8 mpd, as before.

A minimum spend of S$800 in the same calendar month is required. If the minimum spend is not met, all FCY spend will earn just 1.2 mpd.

When will bonus points be awarded?

Maybank Horizon Visa Signature cardmembers will earn 3X TREATS Points (1.2 mpd) when the transaction initially posts.

Should the S$800 minimum spend be met, an additional 5X TREATS Points (2 mpd) will be credited in a lump sum, on the 7th day of the following calendar month.

What transactions are ineligible?

Maybank’s regular rewards exclusion list applies to this promotion, which means you won’t earn 3.2 mpd on:

  • Betting or gambling transactions
  • Charitable donations
  • Government services
  • Prepaid top-ups including GrabPay and YouTrip
  • Utilities

However, education, hospitals and insurance premiums are not on the exclusion list. You will be able to earn 3.2 mpd on such transactions, provided they’re charged in FCY.

What counts towards the minimum spend?

Cardholders must spend at least S$800 in a calendar month to unlock the 3.2 mpd earn rate for selected FCY spend (or the 2.8 mpd earn rate for all other FCY spend).

The minimum spend consists of all SGD and FCY transactions that are eligible to earn TREATS Points — with the exception of education, insurance, medical, rentals, and professional services (collectively referred to by Maybank as “Selected Categories”).

Insurance 6300
Medical 4119, 5047, 5122, 5912, 5975-5976, 8011, 8021, 8031, 8041-8043, 8049, 8050, 8062, 8071 and 8099
Education 8211, 8220, 8241, 8244, 8249, 8299
Rentals 6513
Professional Services 7399
Note: Maybank does not explicitly disclose the MCCs for Selected Categories in the Horizon Visa Signature’s T&Cs, but we can find them in the Maybank Platinum Visa’s T&Cs.

While these Selected Categories earn 0.16 mpd (if charged in SGD) or 2.8/3.2 mpd (if charged in FCY), they do not count towards the minimum spend requirement.

Principal and supplementary cardholder spending is pooled for the purposes of this calculation (e.g. if the sum of spending across both cards is S$800, then both principal and supplementary cardholders will earn 3.2 mpd on FCY spend).

Posting date, not transaction date

Technically speaking, Maybank tracks minimum spend and bonus caps by posting date, not transaction date.

However, all transactions charged in a given month and posted by the 6th of the following month are considered to be part of the month in which they were charged.

💳 Maybank Horizon Visa Signature
Transaction Date Posting Date Counts Towards
Month X By the 6th of Month X+1 Month X
Month X+1 By the 6th of Month X+2 Month X+1

For example, if you make a transaction of S$200 on the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature on 30 January 2027, and it posts on 2 February 2027, it will still count towards January 2027’s minimum spend and bonus cap.

In other words, you should be able to spend up till the last calendar day of the month, and not have to worry about transactions “leaking” into the following month. It’s not impossible that a transaction takes more than six days to post, but it’s rare.

How does this compare to alternative FCY spending options?

Maybank has a 3.25% FCY transaction fee, so with a 3.2 mpd earn rate, Maybank Horizon Visa Signature cardholders are paying 0.98 cents per mile.

❓ How is the cost per mile calculated?
Cost per mile is derived by FCY Fee ÷ [Earn Rate x (1 + FCY Fee)]. This reflects the fact that the FCY fee itself is also eligible to earn miles.

This compares very favourably to the competition. In fact, I’d argue that the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature has several advantages over the four cards which offer equivalent or lower costs per mile.

  • The DCS Imperium (0.79 cpm) is by invitation only, with a S$1,294.92 annual fee
  • The StanChart Beyond Card (0.85-1.13 cpm) has a minimum income requirement of S$200,000, and a S$1,635 annual fee
  • The Maybank Visa Infinite and World Mastercard (both 0.98 cpm) require a minimum spend of S$4,000 to unlock their 3.2 mpd earn rates

Of course, you could earn 4 mpd with the Maybank XL Rewards Card or UOB Visa Signature for general FCY spending, or 4 mpd with the HSBC Revolution or OCBC Rewards Card for FCY spending in their respective bonus categories.

Ideally, you’d try to utilise these cards first. However, if you’ve exhausted their bonus caps, or if you’re making a big-ticket purchase and unable to split it over several cards, then the ability to earn an uncapped 3.2 mpd with the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature would be very useful.

What can you do with TREATS Points?

TREATS Points can be transferred to four airline partners, at the following rates.

Frequent Flyer Programme Conversion Ratio
(TREATS Points: Partner)
krisflyer logo 25,000 : 10,000
asia miles logo 12,500 : 5,000
12,500 : 5,000
4,000 : 2,000

A S$27.25 conversion fee applies to all transfers, and TREATS Points are pooled among all Maybank cards.

TREATS Points expire after 12-15 months, depending on when they were earned. However, if you have a Maybank Visa Infinite or Maybank World Mastercard, or spend at least S$24,000 in a membership year on your Maybank XL Rewards Card (not the XL Cashback Card), you’ll receive a Rewards Infinite membership that makes your points evergreen.

How does the Maybank Rewards Infinite programme work?

As a reminder, you’ll need to download the Maybank TREATS app to convert TREATS Points to KrisFlyer miles. This is a separate app from the Maybank2u SG app that’s used for all other internet banking matters.

TREATS Points conversions to other programmes require filling up a PDF form and emailing it to Maybank (SG.rewardsform@maybank.com).

The Maybank Horizon Visa Signature has a minimum income requirement of S$30,000. Its S$196.20 annual fee is waived for the first three years, and even thereafter, securing a waiver is generally not difficult.

Its earning structure is rather unique, awarding miles according to two different schemes, depending on the total spend in a given calendar month.

At the sub-S$800 spending level, the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature is relatively unexciting. 1.2 mpd is the best you can hope for, on all FCY spend and selected local transactions.

Conclusion

The Maybank Horizon Visa Signature is offering cardholders an uncapped 3.2 mpd for spending in eight Asian currencies from November 2026 to January 2027. That’s a 14% boost from the usual 2.8 mpd, right in time for the year-end travel peak.

The bonus covers both online and in-person spending, and even extends to education, insurance premiums and hospital bills, provided they’re charged in FCY. That’s a rare perk, since most cards exclude these categories entirely.

Just remember to clear the S$800 minimum spend each month, and after that, the sky’s the limit!
