Important Note: An earlier version of this article referred to a 10,000 miles sign up bonus with S$6K spending. SingSaver has since updated the offer to remove the spending requirement. |
The SCB X Card hasn’t had a sign up bonus since the start of this year, when it called time on the 60,000 miles offer. Since then, customers have had to settle for 30,000 miles in exchange for paying the S$695.50 annual fee, hardly a compelling proposition.
That’s about to change.
From now till 30 April 2020, customers who are approved for an SCB X Card through SingSaver and pay the S$695.50 annual fee receive a total of 40,000 miles. There’s no spending required.

This offer applies to both new and existing SCB cardholders, and is fulfilled by SCB (so there’s no need to fill up a separate rewards form). Applying through any of the links in this article will tag your application to the SingSaver deal.
The 40,000 miles (in the form of 100,000 360ยฐ Rewards Points) will be credited to your account by 31 May 2020.
Is it worth it?
You’re basically paying S$695.50 for 40,000 miles, or 1.74 cents per mile. As far as buying miles in Singapore goes, this is a decent price- and because there’s no spending required, there’s no foregone opportunity cost either.
Here’s how much you’d pay to buy miles through annual fees on other cards:
Card | Annual Fee | Miles | Cost Per Mile |
HSBC Visa Infinite | S$650* | 35K | 1.86 |
DBS Altitude | S$192.60 | 10K | 1.93 |
KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card | S$192.60 | 10K | 1.93 |
OCBC 90N | S$192.60 | 10K | 1.93 |
Citi PremierMiles | S$192.60 | 10K | 1.93 |

UOB Visa Infinite Metal Card | S$642 | 25K | 2.57 |

SCB has been running some good value transfer bonuses recently- we’ve seen 100% bonuses for Emirates Skywards and Accor Live Limitless (both of which have since expired). Let’s hope the team has more planned, because this is now SCB’s flagship product after the recent retirement of the SCB Visa Infinite.
Conclusion
This is a good chance to pick up some additional miles if you’re willing to pay 1.74 cents for them. Remember that you have a wide range of transfer partners to choose from, so bide your time and see what bonuses come along.
