American Express has launched a new AMEX Offer for KrisFlyer co-brand cardholders, which allows them to earn 2 bonus KrisFlyer miles on Amazon.sg, Lazada, Qoo10 and Shopee.
Registration is required for this offer, and is open from now till 31 July 2020 (or until 20,000 cards are registered, whichever comes first). The bonus 2 mpd is capped at S$300 of spending from 21 April to 31 July 2020.ย
Like all AMEX Offers, this may be targeted, so if you don’t see it in the app or online it means you’re not eligible.
What are AMEX Offers? |
AMEX Offers are opportunities to earn bonus miles or Membership Rewards points, or discounts in the form of statement credits. These are available to Platinum, True Cashback, and KrisFlyer co-brand cardholders, and can be found in the โOffersโ section of the AMEX app or web portal. Registration is required, and some offers may be targeted. These are not applicable to DBS/Citi/UOB AMEX cardholders.ย |
The 2 bonus KrisFlyer miles are awarded on top of the base miles earned, so you’re looking at a total of 3.1-3.3 mpd, depending on which KrisFlyer cobrand card you hold.
Promotional Earn Rate | |
AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card | 3.1 mpd |
AMEX KrisFlyer Ascend | 3.2 mpd |
AMEX PPS Credit Card |
3.3 mpd (3.4 mpd if >S$3.8K) |
AMEX Solitaire PPS Credit Card | 3.3 mpd (3.5 mpd if >S$3.8K) |
The bonus KrisFlyer miles should reflect in your card account within 5 business days from qualifying spend, but may take up to 90 days from the offer end date.
Do note the following miscellaneous terms and conditions:
Offer also available on AMEX Platinum cards
I noticed a similar offer available on my AMEX Platinum Reserve credit card (but not on my AMEX Platinum Charge), with a bonus of 4 MR points per S$1.
This works out to be an additional 2.2 mpd, but given that the AMEX Platinum Reserve earns a mere 0.69 mpd, the overall rate of 2.89 mpd isn’t very attractive.
What other online spending bonuses are currently available?
With the current Circuit Breaker conditions, banks are starting to pivot their promotions towards online shopping and food delivery. As of today, the following offers are ongoing:
- UOB PRVI Miles Mastercard & Visa: 3 mpd on online groceries, food delivery, utilities payments and online shopping
- UOB PRVI Miles AMEX: 3 mpd on groceries, food delivery, telco & utilities payments and online shopping
- OCBC Titanium Rewards: 8 mpd on Deliveroo, Lazada, NTUC, Netflix and more
Some of these have minimum spends and/or caps, so be sure to read the hyperlinked articles for the full details.
But some cards don’t even need promotions, because they’re just evergreen excellent options for online spending. The following cards will net you 4 mpd on most types of online transactions.

Conclusion
3.1-3.3 mpd on online shopping is nice to have, but you could do better with any of the specialized spending cards in the table above.
If you’re adopting a one-card strategy, however, be sure to register ASAP for the promotion because it’s limited quantity.
Not everyone gets to enjoy this. These were not in my account.
Wonder why…
I just received an email from AMEX with double MR points on all purchase on the Platinum charge until July, every little helps!
I believe this is probably targeted? Did not receive the offers on the Amex Offers for KF Blue card.
