From 12-15 March 2021, Pan Pacific Singapore is running a 1-for-1 offer on rooms, with breakfast and guaranteed 4 p.m check-out (from Sundays to Thursdays). It’s a deal worth looking at, so much so I’ll even forgive the social media team for using the term “deets”.
This offer can be booked through Travleoka or Trip.com as well, which allows you to utilize your S$100 SRV if you haven’t already done so.
Pan Pacific 1-for-1 promotion
Pan Pacific’s 1-for-1 offer must be booked by 15 March 2021, with stays from 1 April to 30 June 2021 (i.e you can’t use it for the March school holidays). This rate includes:
- A complimentary second night
- Breakfast for two
- Guaranteed 4 p.m check-out (Sunday to Thursday)
- Free parking
- 15% off F&B
- 20% off spa (min. S$160 nett spend)
These bookings are non-refundable and cannot be changed, so be sure to lock in your plans before pulling the trigger.
Do yourself a favor and login to your free-to-join Discovery account before searching, because it gives an additional 5% discount. The cheapest rates I can find start from S$391 nett for two nights (although the second night is technically free, Pan Pacific’s website still shows you the average rate per night) in a Deluxe Room.
If you want club lounge privileges, Pacific Rooms start at S$593 nett for two nights. Pacific Club guests will enjoy a champagne breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails in the lounge.
These rates will of course qualify for GHA Black privileges like room upgrades and early check-in/late check-out.
Pan Pacific 1-for-1 on Trip.com
However, if you want to use your SRV you’ll need to book through Trip.com or Traveloka, in which case GHA benefits will not apply. Keep in mind you’ll also pay slightly higher prices because the 5% member discount won’t be available- the lowest rate I found was S$412 nett.
That said, you may be able to stack some bank promo codes that help bring down the cost (like DBSHTL15 for S$15 off). I’d also wait to see if Traveloka is running any flash sales this weekend as well.
Be sure to select a two-night stay, and you should see the rates populate accordingly.
What’s the Pan Pacific staycation experience like?
I stayed at the Pan Pacific Singapore back in mid-December, a few weeks after the hotel reopened for staycations. Although the latest renovation was nine years ago, the Harbour Studio room I stayed in still felt pleasantly modern and well maintained. Bathtubs aren’t a standard feature in all rooms (I believe you need to book a Panoramic Room or higher), but the one I had was luxuriously large and great for soaking.
I had high hopes for the club lounge, based on pre-COVID reports, but the selection seems to be pared down significantly compared to before. I’d still consider it among the better club lounge experiences in Singapore (they’re one of the few hotels to serve champagne during happy hour), but if you visited before COVID, you’ll need to moderate your expectations accordingly.
Unfortunately, breakfast was extremely mediocre, with a very limited selection (just five choices) and tasteless food. As for service, the hotel was chronically understaffed when I stayed, but I saw no reason to impose a ridiculous S$5 “delivery charge” for every item sent to your room, be it a towel or more shampoo. Thankfully, the hotel has since done away with this very silly policy, but it no doubt left a bad taste in the mouths of those who stayed during that period.
My conclusion at the time was something like this:
There’s no doubt in my mind the Pan Pacific is capable of delivering the goods- many pre-COVID reports in the Milelion Community confirm it. But although all the raw ingredients required for a great stay are present, they need time to figure out how to assemble them in light of the new restrictions on everything. They’re clearly going to make some mistakes along the way (that S$5 delivery charge is particularly egregious), and the question is whether you’re willing to pay to be part of that learning process.
For those taking up this offer, I do hope the kinks will have been worked out by April.
Conclusion
Given the usual rates at the Pan Pacific Singapore, this flash sale represents a very good price for those willing to stay two nights. I’m not clear if GHA elite members will earn one or two elite nights however (I suspect one), so check with the hotel if this is important to you.
Make sure to finalise your bookings by the end of day on 15 March 2021 if you’re interested.
