PSA: “Upsized” KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes coming on 7 March

If you’re a regular follower of KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes, you probably know the drill by now: deals are released on the 15th of each month (or the next working day), offering a 30% discount on selected Business, Premium Economy and Economy Saver awards for travel the following calendar month. 

However, Singapore Airlines is teasing something different for this month. Members have been asked to mark their calendars for Friday, 7 March 2025 when an “upsized” Spontaneous Escapes offer will be revealed.

Special edition of Spontaneous Escapes for March 2025

Earlier this week, Singapore Airlines’ social media channels teased a special edition of Spontaneous Escapes coming this Friday, 7 March 2025. 

The teaser mentions 4 p.m (SGT) as the time to watch, but if past editions of Spontaneous Escapes are anything to go by, award inventory will be loaded ahead of the official release. Therefore, it’s worth checking the website from the morning onwards to see if you can jump the gun.

An early launch of Spontaneous Escapes also gives you some extra time to block your leave arrangements, especially for those whose bosses don’t look too kindly on last-minute requests.

What might we see?

As for what we might see, your guess is as good as mine. However, there have been some special editions of Spontaneous Escapes in the past:

• February 2019: 50% off Economy Saver awards, and Business Saver awards at Economy Saver rates (45-60% off depending on route)
• January 2020: A blockbuster 51% off all awards…then COVID happened
• March 2022: After a two-year hiatus, Spontaneous Escapes made a return with the usual 30% discount, but an extended travel period for April and May 2022
• August 2023: The usual 30% discount, but with an additional 5% milesback for KrisFlyer UOB Credit and Debit Cardholders
• February 2024: KrisFlyer marked its 25th anniversary with the usual 30% discount, but an extended travel period for March and April 2024. KrisFlyer UOB Credit and Debit Cardholders got 5% milesback again

I’m personally hoping we’ll see discounts in the neighbourhood of 50%, and if Singapore Airlines is feeling particularly generous, an extended travel period covering the next two months.

I hate to be a party pooper, but I’m just going to say that no, we won’t be seeing Suites or First Class awards going on sale. These are hard enough to book at the Saver level as it is; your really think Singapore Airlines is going to open a promo category?

Conclusion

Singapore Airlines will be launching their popular Spontaneous Escapes promotions early this month, with members asked to tune into the airline’s official social media pages at 4 p.m on Friday, 7 March 2025.

The exact details have yet to be released, but I’d expect the discount to be larger than the usual 30%, given the “upsized” teaser (unless that’s talking about the number of destinations on offer, which I suppose is possible too).
