A guide to Singapore Work From Hotel Packages

If working from home isn’t working out for you, why not try a hotel? 

For those craving a change of scenery (and willing to pay for the privilege), Singapore hotels have lined up various work from hotel packages with either private rooms or shared spaces to get work done.

Work From Hotel: Private Rooms

The following properties are offering work from hotel packages, which give you a private room and access to the hotel’s facilities.

Although they’re ostensibly marketed as “work from hotel”, there’s nothing stopping you from using these as a daycation of sorts. Just note that some hotels explicitly specify a maximum of one guest per room (although I find it hard to see how they’d enforce this in practice, so long as you’re not hosting an inordinate amount of people). 

Before you book any of these, however, it’s best practice to run a quick search for the nightly rate the hotel is quoting for the date in question. In some cases (e.g Hilton Singapore), day rates can be 70-80% what you’d pay for an overnight stay. 

lyf Funan

lyf’s Singapore Workspace Package offers 10 hours of room usage from $70++ ($82 nett). There are two different types of rooms, depending on the size of your party:

• One of a Kind (1 person, S$70++)
• All Together (4 people, S$150++)

Do note that lyf will remove the mattress in the room for these work from hotel bookings. If you require use of the mattress (for…ideation), an additional charge of S$30 applies.

Grand Mercure Roxy

The Grand Mercure Roxy offers 6 hours of room usage from S$85++ (S$100 nett). This doesn’t come with any other inclusions, at least not that I can see on the website- it’s four walls and a bed, so use your imagination.

Hotel G

The Hustle & Grind package at Hotel G gives you 12 hours of room usage (on weekdays only) for S$90++ (S$106 nett), plus a set lunch and two glasses of hour pour wine. The package is strictly for one guest however, so I hope you like mid-day drinking. 

Topping up an additional S$50++ (S$59 nett) allows you to stay the night (and covers an additional guest).

The Hotel Vagabond may not be particularly conducive to working, but who says you need to use the room for work 😉? For just S$100++ (S$118 nett), you get 12 hours of room usage plus gym access.

Carlton Hotel

Carlton Hotel is offering a Workcation package priced at S$99++ (S$117 nett) for 11 hours of room usage. Do note that this is only valid for a single person; it costs S$45++ for an additional guest. Also, you can only book this from Monday to Friday; it’s not available on weekends.

Hilton Singapore

Hilton Singapore does not advertise a work from hotel package, but if you select the same check-in and check-out date on their website, a Day Use rate will nonetheless materialize.

The rate will differ depending on the date you choose, but keep in mind that at S$125++ (S$147 nett) you might as well book a regular night. With the right sales (e.g Hilton’s Dream Away), you could pay just S$201 nett.

M Social

M Social’s Work From Hotel package costs just S$100++ (S$118 nett) for 9 hours of use, but sadly they’ve devalued the package by removing the free food. Guests used to get a free breakfast and set lunch at Beast & Butterflies, plus happy hour beer & wine. Now they just get 15% off F&B (excluding alcohol). 

Do note that only one guest is allowed per room.

Orchard Hotel is offering a range of daycation packages that range from 7 hours to 12 hours in duration. The longest package runs from 8 a.m to 8 p.m, and includes a 15% discount on F&B plus the use of a premier room.

Mandarin Orchard Singapore

Mandarin Orchard Singapore’s work-from-hotel package comes in several different configurations. 

You can opt to do 9 a.m to 6 p.m (9 hours) in a Deluxe Room for S$108++ (S$127 nett), or in a Suite for S$178++ (S$210 nett). Alternatively, you can opt to do 7 a.m to 7 p.m (12 hours) in a Deluxe Room for S$138++ (S$162 nett), or in a Suite for S$228++ (S$268 nett).

Once you cross the S$200 mark, however, you’re better off looking at overnight rates already.

If you’re coming on a weekday, you can pay S$70++ (S$82 nett) per person for Straits Club access, with a Chandon breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails. It could be a pretty good deal depending on your drinking, although the combined price of the room and club access may be close to an overnight stay.

Four Seasons must have realised their previous Daycation Escape package was just way too expensive, because they’ve cut the cost from S$294 nett for 9 hours to S$198 nett for 12 hours. In exchange they took out the free wine and F&B discount, but who cares, really.

While the YOTELAir Changi is notorious for having rooms so small you’d swear Josephine Teo was the chief architect, the one in Orchard is mercifully larger. If you opt for the workcation package, you’ll get a First Class Suite which at 28 sqm, is plenty large for a YOTEL. That said, it’s hard to spring for this when it’s the same price as the St Regis…

Who knows, you may even luck out and get a room with a runway view (not that there’s a whole lot happening on the tarmac right now…)

The Sofitel Singapore City Centre’s Work From Hotel package will give you 6 hours of room access for S$190++ (S$224 nett). It’s steep, but at least they allow you to cancel right up to the day of arrival. 

Note: The Work from Hotel landing page quotes 8 hours of usage from 7 a.m to 7 p.m, but when you click through to book, the details show an arrival time of noon and departure at 6 p.m. Check with the hotel if you want to be sure.

Sofitel Singapore Sentosa

The Sofitel Sentosa Resort & Spa does not advertise a “Work From Hotel” package, but by navigating to the Accor Day use page, you’ll be able to find a S$190++ (S$224 nett) package with 7 hours access.

This does make it notably shorter than most of these other packages, although you can always try your luck by showing up early.

Work From Hotel: Shared Work Spaces and Meeting Rooms

If the rates for hotel rooms are too steep (or you really want a distraction-free environment), you can consider the packages below for shared working spaces, or meeting rooms. 

Grand Copthorne Waterfront

The Grand Copthorne Waterfront is not approved for staycation guests, but is opening up its lounge as a co-working space. 

For a limited time, the hotel is offering 50% off its packages (prices quoted in this article already reflect the discount). This won’t last long though, as it’s capped at the first 50 guests who sign up for each package.

Furama Riverfront

Joke all you want about the Furama Riverfront’s age, but they’ve done some renovations and the results are mighty impressive. 

What’s even more impressive is Furama’s work from hotel package. Although they haven’t been approved by the STB for staycation guests, they’ve opened up their Waterfall Lounge as a co-working space in the meantime. 

This has proven so popular they’ve hiked the price. A day pass now costs S$28 nett (formerly S$15 nett), and a month pass S$450 nett (formerly S$250 nett). Pass holders can make an (optional) reservation before coming down to ensure a seat is available, at a cost of S$5 per reservation.

Changi Lounge

OK, so this isn’t strictly speaking a hotel, but for those who live in the East, it’s a viable option. Back in August, the Changi Lounge at Jewel reopened to guests, offering a promotional rate of S$12 for 2 hours, and S$4 for subsequent hours after that. 

The rate has now been modified as follows:

• 2h package: S$15
• 4h package: S$24
• 8h package: S$44
• Extension per hour: S$6

While the regular buffet won’t be available, coffee and light snacks will be offered. Meeting rooms can also be booked at a rate of S$80 per hour (max 4 pax), with extensions costing S$40/hour. 

Before anyone asks, no, you can’t access this with a Priority Pass/DragonPass/other lounge pass alone. You’ll need a same day boarding pass to do so.

Conclusion

While working from a hotel is not the most economical way of going about things, it can still be a nice escape for those who need to get out of the house.

Do remember to compare the Work From Hotel packages with the nightly rates the hotel is charging, because in some cases, it may make more sense to just go the whole hog and make a staycation out of it.
