Here’s The MileLion’s review of the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature, which was relaunched in late 2023 with 2.8 mpd on air tickets and foreign currency (FCY) spending.
While 2.8 mpd isn’t exactly market-leading — other cards offer up to 4 mpd on these categories — the key appeal is the absence of a cap for FCY spend, and a generous S$10,000 monthly cap for air tickets.
It’s also one of the few cards that still offers rewards for education, hospitals, and insurance premiums, so if you can overlook the relatively short validity of TREATS Points, the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature could be a very useful addition to your wallet.

What confuses many people is that Maybank has (or rather, had) three different cards with “Horizon” in the name:
- Maybank Horizon Visa Signature
- Maybank Privilege Horizon Visa Signature
- Maybank Horizon Platinum Visa
Let’s start with (3), because it’s the easiest one to clarify. The Maybank Horizon Platinum Visa no longer exists, having been rebranded to the Maybank Perks Card on 1 April 2026 (this led to a lot of confusion, because people thought the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature was getting nerfed!). The Maybank Perks Card is a very underwhelming product, and aspiring miles chasers can safely ignore it.

The Maybank Privilege Horizon Visa Signature is available to Maybank Privilege Banking customers with a minimum deposit or investment of S$50,000. It’s mostly the same as the regular Maybank Horizon Visa Signature, with the following exceptions.

| Annual Fee | Waived for 3 years | Perpetual waiver |
| Airport Transfer | N/A | 2x free Grab rides |

The Privilege version enjoys a perpetual annual fee waiver — not that it’s difficult to waive the annual fee on the regular version anyway — as well as complimentary airport lounge access with a minimum spend of S$500, versus S$1,000 for the regular version.
The Privilege version also enjoys a pair of Grab vouchers every year for rides to or from Changi Airport. Unfortunately, these were recently devalued. They now require a minimum spend of S$500 in a single transaction, with a maximum discount of S$15 and an overall redemption cap of 50 cardmembers per month.

This article will focus on the regular Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card.
How much must I earn to qualify for a Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card?

The Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card has a minimum income requirement of S$30,000 p.a., the MAS-mandated minimum.
I’m not aware of any secured credit card option for those who don’t meet the minimum requirement, but there’s no harm visiting a branch to check.
How much is the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card annual fee?
| Principal Card | Supp. Card | |
| First 3 Years | Waived | Free (up to 2 cards) |
| Subsequent | S$196.20 | Free (up to 2 cards) |
The Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card has an annual fee of S$196.20 for principal cardholders, which is waived for the first three years. Up to two supplementary cards are free for life.
From the fourth year onwards, the annual fee is automatically waived with a minimum spend of S$18,000 per membership year. However, Maybank does not appear to enforce this requirement strictly, with many customers reporting that they received a fee waiver despite not meeting the minimum spend threshold.
No miles are offered for paying the annual fee.

How many miles do I earn?
| 🇸🇬 SGD Spend | 🌎 FCY Spend | ⭐ Bonus Spend |
| 0.16-1.2 mpd | 2.8 mpd | Air tickets: 2.8 mpd |
The Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card’s earn structure is rather complicated, with four possible earn rates (0.16 mpd, 0.4 mpd, 1.2 mpd, 2.8 mpd) depending on category of spend, and total spend per calendar month.
Here’s the easiest way to think about it: is my aggregate spending for the month at least S$800, or less than S$800?
If you spend <S$800 per calendar month
| Currency | Category | Earn Rate |
| Local | Education Insurance Medical Rentals Professional Services |
0.16 mpd |
| Dining Food Delivery Supermarkets Transport Petrol Department and Retail Stores Air Tickets Hotels Cruises Travel Packages Car Rental |
1.2 mpd | |
| All Other SGD Spend | 0.4 mpd | |
| FCY | All FCY Spend | 1.2 mpd |
Selected Categories (0.16 mpd)
The Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card earns 2 TREATS Points per S$5 spent (0.16 mpd) on SGD spend on Selected Categories, defined as education, insurance, medical, rental and professional services.
| Category | MCCs |
| Insurance | 6300 |
| Medical | 4119, 5047, 5122, 5912, 5975-5976, 8011, 8021, 8031, 8041-8043, 8049, 8050, 8062, 8071, 8099 |
| Education | 8211, 8220, 8241, 8244, 8249, 8299 |
| Rentals | 6513 |
| Professional Services | 7399 |
| Note: Maybank does not explicitly disclose the MCCs for Selected Categories in the Horizon Visa Signature’s T&Cs, but we can extrapolate it from the Maybank Platinum Visa’s T&Cs. |
|
This is capped at S$3,000 per calendar month, or 480 miles.
0.16 mpd sounds negligible, but given that other banks usually exclude most of these categories altogether, it’s still better than nothing.
For the avoidance of doubt, FCY spend on Selected Categories will earn either 1.2 mpd (<S$800 per calendar month) or 2.8 mpd (≥S$800 per calendar month), with no cap, as the FCY spending bonus takes precedence.
Local Retail Spend (1.2 mpd)
The Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card earns 15 TREATS Points per S$5 spent (1.2 mpd) on Local Retail Spend, defined as SGD spend on supermarkets, dining, food delivery, transport, petrol, department and retail stores, air tickets, hotels, cruises, travel packages and car rental.

FCY spend (1.2 mpd)
The Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card earns 15 TREATS Points per S$5 spent (1.2 mpd) on all FCY transactions.
All other spend (0.4 mpd)
The Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card earns 5 TREATS points per S$5 spent (0.4 mpd) on any transaction that does not fall into the categories listed above.
If you spend ≥S$800 per calendar month
| Currency | Category | Earn Rate |
| Local | Education Insurance Medical Rentals Professional Services |

||
Selected Categories (0.16 mpd)
No changes here. You’ll still earn the same 0.16 mpd on SGD spend on Selected Categories.
Local Retail Spend (1.2 mpd)
No changes here either. Local Retail Spend still earns 1.2 mpd — though air tickets are now treated differently (see next section).
Air tickets (2.8 mpd)
If you spend at least S$800 per calendar month, the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card will earn 35 TREATS Points per S$5 spent (2.8 mpd) on air tickets, capped at S$10,000 per calendar month. Any spending beyond this cap will earn 1.2 mpd.
Air tickets are defined as SGD transactions under MCCs 3000-3350 and 4511 (if your air tickets are in FCY, they will earn an uncapped 2.8 mpd — see next section). This includes Singapore Airlines, Scoot, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways and pretty much every major airline.
FCY spend (2.8 mpd)
If you spend at least S$800 per calendar month, the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card will earn 35 TREATS Points per S$5 spent (2.8 mpd) on FCY spend, without any cap.
This is one of the highest uncapped general spending rates for FCY spending, and could be very useful for those with overseas school or university fees.

All other spend (0.4 mpd)
No changes here. You’ll still earn 0.4 mpd on any transaction that does not fall into the categories listed above.
What counts towards the S$800 minimum spend?
The S$800 minimum spend includes all SGD and FCY spending, excluding Selected Categories (i.e. education, insurance, medical, rental and professional services in SGD) and transactions which do not earn TREATS Points (e.g. donations).
Remember: Selected Categories will count towards the minimum spend if they are charged in FCY.
No Google Pay support

While Maybank cards support Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, there is currently no support for Google Pay. If you’re a non-Samsung Android user, you’ll have to use the physical card for now.
Maybank is planning to introduce support for Google Pay in Singapore, but the timeline is uncertain.
What is the FCY transaction fee?
All FCY transactions are subject to a 3.25% fee, which is on par with the rest of the market.
| 💳 FCY Fees by Issuer and Card Network |
||
| Issuer | ↓ MC & Visa | AMEX |

Spending overseas with your Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card therefore means buying miles at 1.16 cents (3.25%/2.8 mpd), which is reasonable enough for most people.
Transaction date or posting date?
Technically speaking, Maybank tracks minimum spend and bonus caps by posting date, not transaction date.
However, all transactions charged in a given month and posted by the 6th of the following month are considered to be part of the month in which they were charged.
| 💳 Maybank Horizon Visa Signature |
||
| Transaction Date | Posting Date | Counts Towards |
| Month X | By the 6th of Month X+1 | Month X |
| Month X+1 | By the 6th of Month X+2 | Month X+1 |
For example, if you make a transaction of S$200 on the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature on 29 June 2026 and it posts on 2 July 2026, that S$200 will count towards June 2026’s minimum spend and bonus cap.
In other words, you can comfortably spend up till the last calendar day of the month, and not have to worry about transactions “leaking” into the following month. I mean, it’s not impossible that a transaction takes more than six days to post, but it’s very, very rare.
When are TREATS Points credited?
Base TREATS Points are credited when the transaction posts, which usually takes 1-3 working days.
Bonus TREATS Points are credited on the 7th day of the following calendar month, in a lump sum.
How are TREATS Points calculated?
Here’s how you can work out the TREATS Points earned on your Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card.
For FCY spend & air tickets
Spend <S$800 per calendar month
| Base Points (3X) |
Round down transaction to the nearest S$5, divide by 5, then multiply by 15 |
Spend ≥S$800 per calendar month
| Base Points (3X) |
Round down transaction to the nearest S$5, divide by 5, then multiply by 15 |
| Bonus Points (4X) | Sum up all eligible transactions. Divide by 5, then multiply by 20. Round to the nearest whole number |
What’s slightly annoying is that Maybank (together with OCBC and UOB) uses S$5 earning blocks, which means that a S$9.99 transaction earns the same number of points as a S$5 transaction, and any spend below S$5 earns nothing at all!
The impact of rounding is reduced as the transaction size increases, but you’ll definitely want to be cautious with using the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature on smaller-sized transactions.
If you’re an Excel geek, here are the formulas you need to calculate points:
For FCY spend & air tickets
Spend <S$800 per calendar month
| Base Points (3X) | =ROUND (ROUNDDOWN(X/5,0)*15,0) |
| Where X= Amount Spent |
|
Spend ≥S$800 per calendar month
| Base Points (3X) | =ROUND (ROUNDDOWN(X/5,0)*15,0) |
| Bonus Points (4X) |
=ROUND(Y/5*20,0) |
| Where X= Amount Spent, Y= Sum of all eligible transactions |
|
For the full list of formulas that banks use to calculate credit card points, do refer to these articles:
What transactions aren’t eligible for TREATS Points?
A full list of transactions that do not earn TREATS Points can be found in the T&Cs at point 2.2.
I’ve highlighted a few noteworthy categories below:
- Betting and gambling transactions
- Brokerage and securities transactions
- Charitable donations
- Government services
- Prepaid account top-ups, e.g. GrabPay and YouTrip
- Utilities
The main change from last year’s review is that utilities are now an excluded category. These used to earn 0.16 mpd as a Selected Category, but were excluded in December 2025.
As mentioned earlier, you will earn rewards on education, insurance premiums, and hospital bills. These earn 0.16 mpd when in SGD (capped at S$3,000 per month), or 1.2/2.8 mpd in FCY (uncapped), depending on your aggregate monthly spend.

Expiry
TREATS Points earned on the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature expire one year from the quarterly period in which they were earned, which means a validity period of 12-15 months.
| Points Earned | Points Expire On |
| 1 January to 31 March 2025 | 31 March 2026 |
| 1 April to 30 June 2025 | 30 June 2026 |
| 1 July to 30 September 2025 | 30 September 2026 |
| 1 October to 31 December 2025 | 31 December 2026 |
However, Maybank cardholders who spend at least S$24,000 in a 12-month period will qualify for the Rewards Infinite (RI) programme, under which TREATS Points will never expire.
The RI membership will commence once you meet the S$24,000 spending, so you can even enjoy it within the first card membership year. Also, the minimum spend can be combined across all eligible cards, so you could spend S$12,000 on the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature and S$12,000 on the Maybank XL Rewards Card, for example.
![]() |
|
| Cards | Min. Spend |

|
S$24,000 in a 12-month period (combined across all eligible cards) |
Maybank Visa Infinite and Maybank World Mastercard cardholders are automatically granted an RI membership without the need for minimum spend. If you hold one of these cards, the non-expiring benefit is also extended to the TREATS Points earned on your Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card too.
Pooling
TREATS Points pool with other Maybank cards. If you have 20,000 TREATS Points on the Maybank Visa Infinite, and 5,000 TREATS Points on the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature, you can redeem 25,000 TREATS Points in a single redemption.
This also means that if you cancel your Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card, you won’t lose your accumulated TREATS Points — unless it happens to be your very last TREATS-earning card.
Transfer partners & fees
TREATS Points can be transferred to four airline partners at the following ratios.
| Frequent Flyer Programme | Conversion Ratio (TREATS Points: Partner) |
| 25,000 : 10,000 | |
| 12,500 : 5,000 | |
| 12,500 : 5,000 | |
| 4,000 : 2,000 |
Malaysia Airlines Enrich and AirAsia Rewards are close to worthless in my opinion, which leaves Asia Miles and KrisFlyer as the only realistic options.
All conversions have an admin fee of S$27.25.
| ❓Why don’t I see KrisFlyer miles? |
|
The Maybank TREATS SG app will not show KrisFlyer miles redemption options until you enrol your KrisFlyer account. This can be done by going to Profile > My Account > Enrolment > KrisFlyer.
After completing the enrolment, you’ll need to log out and log in again, after which KrisFlyer miles will appear under the Travel section.
|
Transfer time
Conversions to KrisFlyer miles can be made via the TREATS SG app, and are generally completed within 1-2 working days.
Conversions to other programmes require filling up a PDF form and emailing it to Maybank (SG.rewardsform@maybank.com). Based on community reports, you should budget 10 days for conversions to be completed.
Other card perks
FCY spending promotions
The Maybank Horizon Visa Signature occasionally upsizes its FCY earn rate to 3.2 mpd for the June and December travel peaks.
The most recent promotion, which ran from 1 April to 30 June 2026, offered an uncapped 3.2 mpd for in-person and online transactions in the following currencies:
|
|
|
An uncapped 3.2 mpd for FCY spend is on par with the Maybank World Mastercard and Maybank Visa Infinite. However, where the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature wins is that it only requires a minimum monthly spend of S$800 to unlock that rate, versus S$4,000 for the other two.
Other promotions were more generous, including one from November 2024 to January 2025 which offered 3.2 mpd on all FCY spend and air tickets.
Complimentary KLIA Express VIP Service

Maybank customers can now earn complimentary KLIA Express VIP Service by spending on their credit card from 1 August to 31 December 2026.
| Eligible Spend (per calendar month) |
Complimentary Service |
| S$2,000 | 1x one-way KLIA Express VIP Service for 1 pax. (includes limo transfer + 1 train pass) |
| S$3,000 | 1x one-way KLIA Express VIP Service for 2 pax.(includes limo transfer + 2 train passes) |
- Spending at least S$2,000 in a calendar month unlocks one limo ride and one KLIA Express ticket
- Spending at least S$3,000 in a calendar month unlocks one limo ride and two KLIA Express tickets
The limo can accommodate up to four passengers, so if you have additional travellers in your group, you can add on additional KLIA Express train tickets for MYR55 per adult and MYR25 per child — the same rate you’d pay on the public website.
Each cardholder can enjoy a maximum of four complimentary services during the entire promotion period.
For more on this promotion, refer to the post below.
Maybank cards offering complimentary KLIA Express VIP Service
Complimentary lounge access

Principal Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Cardholders will receive a complimentary lounge pass when they spend at least S$1,000 in a single retail transaction in the three months prior to the lounge visit.
The minimum spend excludes Selected Categories and transactions which do not earn TREATS Points (e.g. donations).
The lounge pass can be redeemed for a 3-hour visit to any of the following lounges by simply presenting the physical card.
| City | Lounges |
| 🇸🇬 Singapore |
Ambassador Transit Lounge – Singapore
Plaza Premium Lounge – Singapore
|
| 🇲🇾 Kuala Lumpur |
Plaza Premium Lounge – Kuala Lumpur Kuala Lumpur International Airport – KLIA Terminal
Kuala Lumpur International Airport – KLIA2 Terminal
|
| 🇭🇰 Hong Kong |
Plaza Premium Lounge – Hong Kong
|
A maximum of one complimentary visit per month will be issued. Accompanying guests will enjoy 20% off walk-in rates except at the Ambassador Transit Lounge, where full price is charged.
I wouldn’t consider this to be a major selling point, since many other credit cards offer lounge access for free.
Maybank SaveUp account
SaveUp is Maybank’s high interest savings account, and spending at least S$500 per calendar month on the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature qualifies as one activity for bonus interest.
| Number of Qualifying Activities |
|||
| 1x | 2x | 3x | |
| First S$50K | 0.3% p.a. | 1% p.a. | 2.75% p.a. |
| Next S$25K | 1% p.a. | 1.5% p.a. | 3.75% p.a. |
| Base Interest | 0.25% p.a. | ||
| Maximum EIR | 0.78% p.a. | 1.42% p.a. | 3.33% p.a. |
That said, you’ll need at least three activities to earn a decent interest rate, so in addition to crediting your salary or making GIRO bill payments, you’ll have to take out a loan or purchase selected investment or insurance products.

Complimentary travel insurance
| Accidental Death | S$1,000,000 |
| Medical Expenses | N/A |
| Others | Missed Connection: S$400 Luggage Delay: S$400 Lost Luggage: S$1,000 |
| Policy Wording | |
Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Cardholders receive complimentary travel insurance when they charge their full travel fares to their card. Unfortunately, coverage will not apply in situations where you redeem miles for an award ticket, and charge the taxes and fees to your card.
This covers up to S$1,000,000 for accidental death or total permanent disablement, S$400 for luggage delays or missed connections, and S$1,000 for luggage loss.
However, there is no coverage for medical expenses or emergency medical evacuation. Because of this, I highly advise that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance elsewhere.
How does it compare to the Maybank World Mastercard?
The Maybank Horizon Visa Signature and Maybank World Mastercard are often confused, since they both offer bonuses for FCY spending.
The Maybank World Mastercard earns 2.8 mpd on FCY spend with a minimum spend of S$800, and 3.2 mpd on FCY spend with a minimum spend of S$4,000 — so does the extra upside make the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature obsolete?
Not quite. As the table below summarises, the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature still has the edge when it comes to air tickets, and also qualifies for SaveUp bonus interest.

Summary Review: Maybank Horizon Visa Signature
Maybank Horizon Visa Signature |
|
| 🦁 MileLion Verdict | |
| ☑ Take It ☐ Take It Or Leave It ☐ Leave It |
Given that the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature’s earn rates max out at 2.8 mpd, why would you choose it over 4 mpd cards?
I can think of two reasons.
The first is caps. Obviously, you should try to max out the FCY spending bonuses on the Maybank XL Rewards Card and UOB Visa Signature Card first, but once that’s done, the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature can step in to offer an uncapped 2.8 mpd on the remainder.
Likewise, air tickets could be purchased with the DBS Woman’s World Card or Maybank XL Rewards Card, but their S$1,000 monthly caps will likely be insufficient for those buying Business Class tickets, or tickets for multiple people.
The second is exclusions. It’s refreshing to see so few rewards exclusion categories, with cardholders able to earn points on education, hospitals, and insurance premiums. It’s especially useful for those with overseas school fees or tuition bills to pay, since these can earn an uncapped 2.8 mpd.
The main drawbacks are the limited lifespan of TREATS Points and the need to clock at least S$800 a month to enjoy the 2.8 mpd earn rate, but if the lack of cap is what attracts you, then it’s unlikely a minimum spend requirement will be much of a barrier in the first place.
So that’s my review of the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature. What do you think?

May I ask for S$800 minimum spending per calendar month requirement, is it I have to spend S$800 for each calendar month during the entire 3-4 month promotion period, or if I want to enjoy the 3.2mpd upsized promotion for my spending in December, then I only need to spend S$800 in December (no need to spend any money in Nov or January)?
Curious to know about this too
Does anyone know if we can still use RentHero for Maybank Horizon card?
Not a deal breaker but Maybank cards don’t support Google Pay. Only Apple and Samsung.
I have received the bonus TREATS Points (4X TREATS Points) separately from the base (3X TREATS Points) for the month of Mar 2024 spending. Base points were reflected once transactions were posted whilst I have seen the bonus points reflecting today.
0.24 mpd – for Education, Insurance, Medical and Utilities
assume I spend $800 on such charges.
I’ll get 192 miles.
assume 1 mile @ 1-1.5 cents, 192 miles = $1.92 – $2.88
for $2.88 on the most-cards-excluded-MCCs, is it worth the time?
Sorry – not worth the hassle of dealing with a points redemption app that insists my personal phone be configured to suit the bank’s security requirements.
Bit of a wish .. but any cards that offer points for bokerage and securities? cant seem to find – which would make sense. Cheers
T&C for welcome gifts states $600 for each month in the first 2 months. If spending is $1300 in a single transaction it doesn’t qualify?
refer here: https://milelion.com/2023/11/26/impressive-maybanks-rapid-gift-fulfillment/
tl;dr: spending in a single month is fine too.
$1,200 is only if you apply for creditable. if not it’s $1,300.
Thanks for the clarification!
note that points are capped at 1,000,000 and stop accruing on new transactions if not used
the cap has now been increased to 5 million
How is the lounge access issued if one meets the eligible spend?
just present the physical card at the lounge
If i were to use the card solely for air tickets, does the spend of the air ticket count as the min $800 per month for 2.8mpd? i.e. i spend $1000 on the air ticket and nothing else. am i still eligible for the 2.8mpd?
yes
If i use ezlink auto top up feature, can it be counted into the rewards infinite program spending?
Although Aaron has mentioned that SGD transactions on education, insurance, medical and utilities will earn 2 TREATS Points per S$5 spent (0.16 mpd) for the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card, is that a better earn rate than using the Amex True Cashback Card (which awards 1.5% cashback) to pay?
not all merchants will accept amex, which is why they can still offer this low rate.
the problem is finding a merchant which accepts amex. if you can, then by all means go for 1.5% CB
