Taipei has always been the oddball in the SilverKris Lounge network. Not only is this the smallest lounge that Singapore Airlines operates, it’s also the oldest, having been passed over entirely for renovations during the Home Away From Home era, or the more recent global rollout of the latest design concept found at its flagship lounges in Changi Airport.
When it shuttered during the COVID-19 pandemic — along with the rest of SIA’s overseas lounge network — I was quite certain it was gone forever, only for the lounge to reopen in September 2023 as the last outstation SilverKris Lounge to resume operations.
However, Singapore Airlines has now announced that it will be permanently closing this lounge from November 2026.
Taipei SilverKris Lounge to be permanently closed

The SilverKris Lounge in Taipei will cease operations on Sunday, 1 November 2026.
|
Due to redevelopment works at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 2, Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) SilverKris Lounge in Taipei will cease operations from 1 November 2026. Eligible Business Class customers, as well as PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold members travelling on SIA-operated flights from Taipei Taoyuan International Airport will be invited to the Plaza Premium Lounge, located at Terminal 2, Level 4, Departure Hall. Access eligibility and entitlements will remain unchanged. We thank our customers for their kind understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused. — Singapore Airlines |
Until then, the lounge continues to operate daily from 8.20 a.m to 5.45 p.m, accepting eligible Singapore Airlines and Star Alliance passengers.
Singapore Airlines cites “redevelopment works” as the reason for the lounge’s closure, which probably means that the airport authorities want to take the space back, as was the case with the Manila SilverKris Lounge, which closed in June 2026.
The Taipei SilverKris Lounge is something of a curiosity, and its entire existence boils down to legacy reasons.
During the 1990s and 2000s, Singapore Airlines would operate its Los Angeles services via Taipei (you might remember the tragedy of SQ006, which collided with construction equipment while attempting to take off from the wrong runway at Taoyuan). The lounge was intended as a place for passengers to relax during transit.
Taipei ceased to be a transit hub for Singapore Airlines in October 2008 (TPE-LAX flights were revived briefly in August 2021, before quietly disappearing again), and while the lounge continued operating, it never got the makeovers that other outstations received. It didn’t even get the new furniture that Bangkok and Hong Kong received as part of minor refurbishments in late 2025, in order to bring them up to spec with the latest design concept at Changi.

The SilverKris Lounge Taipei has never been a great facility, to be honest, though it did offer some relief from the perpetually overcrowded EVA Air lounges. It’s basically one long rectangular room, with seating reminiscent of SilverKris Lounges in the late noughties, and somehow manages to be naturally lit and dark at the same time.
I snapped these photos back in 2017, way before my Pixel days, so forgive the potato-quality shots.

It was never going to win any awards, but one cute and unique feature of the Taipei lounge was its “memorabilia closet”, displaying a range of kitsch Singapore Airlines accessories like fans, Hummel-esque figurines, an A380 playset, even an SQ-branded Monopoly kit.

What lounge will passengers now use?

Eligible passengers will be invited to the Plaza Premium Lounge once the SilverKris Lounge closes.
Plaza Premium has four lounges in Taoyuan, and while Singapore Airlines has not specified which one, the obvious candidates are the two lounges in Terminal 2 — dubbed The Terroir and The Crest.

In any case, all four lounges were recently refurbished to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Plaza Premium Group’s operations in Taiwan, which added larger buffet areas and more seating capacity. Through the lounges’ local partnerships, guests can enjoy items like Moon Moon Food’s sesame chili noodles, Chappii tea, and Drink Sport products.
Alternatively, Singapore Airlines passengers can access the lounges of its Star Alliance partner EVA Air, though as I mentioned, these can be a bit of a zoo during peak periods. The Infinity, The Star and The Club are all located in Terminal 2, with operating hours that match Singapore Airlines’ daily flight roster (The Garden is only accessible to EVA’s top-tier Diamond members).

You can read a review of The Infinity and The Star in the post below.
As a reminder, the following passengers receive lounge access on Singapore Airlines flights from Taipei:
- Solitaire PPS Club & PPS Club passengers (+1 guest)
- KrisFlyer Elite Gold & Star Gold passengers (+1 guest)
- Virgin Australia Velocity Beyond, Platinum or Gold passengers (+1 guest)
- Business Class passengers
All guests must be travelling on the same flight as the eligible passenger, per Star Alliance policy.
No more lounge access for Solitaire PPS members on Scoot
While Singapore Airlines passengers have alternative lounges, there’s no luck for Solitaire PPS Club members travelling on Scoot.
Since June 2023, Solitaire PPS Club members have received lounge access when travelling on Scoot — but only if a SilverKris Lounge is available. They do not receive access to partner or third-party lounges, so the closure of the Taipei SilverKris Lounge leaves them with nothing.
If it’s any consolation, this was never a realistic option for passengers on two of Scoot’s three daily Taipei flights anyway.
| Flight | Depart TPE | Arrive SIN |
| 0135 | 0600 | |
| 1620 | 2045 | |
| 2350 | 0415 (+1) |
Passengers on TR873 and TR893 would arrive at the airport well after the SilverKris Lounge closed for the day at 5.45 p.m. It was only a viable choice for those on TR867, with its 4.20 p.m departure time.
Where are the remaining overseas SilverKris Lounges?

With the closure of the Taipei lounge, Singapore Airlines operates a total of eight overseas SilverKris Lounges in the following cities.
| Lounge | First Class | Business Class | Last Renovated |
| 🇹🇭 Bangkok | ✅ | 2025 | |
| 🇦🇺 Brisbane | ✅ | 2016 | |
| 🇭🇰 Hong Kong | ✅ | ✅ | 2025 |
| 🇬🇧 London | ✅ | ✅ | 2024 |
| 🇦🇺 Melbourne | ✅ | ✅ | 2013 New lounge opening by end 2026 |
| 🇦🇺 Perth | ✅ | 2024 | |
| 🇰🇷 Seoul | ✅ | 2019 | |
| 🇦🇺 Sydney | ✅ | ✅ | 2024 |
The overseas lounge network has been progressively shrinking over the years, with the following facilities no longer operating.
- Adelaide (closed 2020)
- Kuala Lumpur (closed 2020)
- Manila (closed 2026)
- New Delhi (closed 2020)
- San Francisco (closed 2017)
Conclusion
Singapore Airlines has announced the closure of its Taipei SilverKris Lounge from 1 November 2026, calling time on what has often felt like a strange appendage of the SilverKris Lounge network.
Eligible passengers will be directed to the Plaza Premium Lounges, though Business Class and Star Gold members have the additional option of visiting one of EVA Air’s lounges instead.
The Taipei SilverKris Lounge was always one of the weaker facilities in the network, but it had a certain quirky charm with its memorabilia closet and time-capsule feel, and I’m sad to see it go.
